The US Hamster Wheel
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
Ah, Seen, so it was - I didn't notice. It came up in Google searching for Russian collusion.

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
Pesky Russians, Pesky Chinese, it doesn't matter who the rivals are, the United States remains the big fish in the ocean. I am so proud of our resilience, self-correction mechanisms, Freedom, and general goodness. Our critics are manifold, and many, even among our allies despise us, but somehow we manage to get by. Our elections can change the course we take, but then we have always corrected our mistakes, witness the Trump election. What a grand nation we are!
President Trump is changing the world. Long may he prosper.

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
Unbridled US capitalism at work.
Article on TV here about the synthetic opioids epidemic in the US. An addiction that is decimating society in many small US towns. Apparently the pharmaceutical companies that produce Fentanyl, whilst well aware of it's addictive side effects, have been providing financial incentives to GP's to prescribe it.
Main thing to remember, their shareholders are very happy with the return on their investments.

Alison-Go onto Wiki (Fentanyl )and look at the graphs that show how quickly the use of Fentanyl rose from 2010 under Obama's watch.
Most of the Fentanyl illegally sold in the US comes from China via the Southern US borders.

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
Speaking of drugs, I'd like a pint of whatever Bens been drinking....
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
So when can we see a correction to that mistake?
Been in data comm since we formed the bits individually with a Morse key.
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
The reality of it all is that until the 'correction' can be made we must expect that a large percentage of anything the current POTUS says or otherwise publishes is likely to be untrue. This based on his proven track record to date. Be proud.
What a grand nation you are
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
Best prepare the mooring ropes for the next rat - from the Daily Depress:
The President reportedly cut off Mr Mulvaney in the meeting (4th Jan, White House), saying: “You just f***ed it all up, Mick.” The interaction came near the end of a meeting in the White House Situation Room on January 4, according to two sources who were in the room at the time. Trump had spent the meeting continuing to demand $5.7billion dollars to build a wall along the US-Mexico border, a key Trump campaign promise.
Mr Mulvaney allegedly inserted himself into the conversation to try and negotiate a compromise.
One source told Axios that Mr Mulvaney suggested “that if Dems weren’t OK wth $5.7billion and the President wasn’t OK with $1.3billion - he was trying to say we should find a middle ground”.
It was then Trump stepped in to aggressively chastise his employee.
The source added: “It was kind of weird.”
Another source, who was also present and confirmed the account, said it appeared that Trump was irritated at Mr Mulvaney’s negotiating style.
They said: “As a negotiator, Trump was resetting. Mick was not reading the room or the President.”
Top Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are thought to have been at the meeting when the public dressing-down took place.
A White House official, who was also in the room, said: “This is an exaggerated account of the exchange that doesn’t reflect the good relationship Mulvaney has built over the last two years with the President.”
The official did not deny the quote, but said the moment was not as heated as others appear to have interpreted it.
They added: “The President and Mulvaney joked about it afterwards.”
A fourth source, who was not the room but has been in previous talks, said Trump has been irritated that Mr Mulvaney’s original 2019 budget only asked for $1.6billion for the wall.
Despite signing off on this himself, in a 2018 meeting attended by the Mr Mulvaney, Trump privately asked: “Who asked for $1.6billion?”
Democrats have used the President’s former comments to their advantage, asking the President why he is not happy getting the money the White House originally asked for.

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
Cant argue with that.
It makes a good case for building that Wall then doesn't it. The Chinks can't funnel it through Canada, but the porous southern border at present makes it quite easy. You should write that fact into the ABC and The Age (heck... even CNN) and I'm sure they'll publish it.
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
I see the Chump is 'complaining' about the Dems being in P Rico
“Dems in Puerto Rico as (MY) Shutdown hits day 24.” @foxandfriends"
You cannot blame them - just giving the Chump Comedy scriptwriters time to write and rehearse the next episode of 'Teamwork in the White House'. Just need to get Mulvaney to get his lines right.

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
The scriptwriters are ahead of the game!!
The Chump tweeted
"Getting ready to address the Farm Convention today in Nashville, Tennessee. Love our farmers, love Tennessee - a great combination! See you in a little while."
Only one problem - the event is in New Orleans (Louisiana). It isn't just his arse and his elbow, then.

Re: The US Hamster Wheel
With friends like this who needs enemies? Yes, he has done it again - he has now quoted Pat Buchanan about the wall - a man about whom he has stated:
"He’s a Hitler lover. I guess he’s an anti-Semite. He doesn’t like the blacks, he doesn’t like the gays.
“It’s just incredible that anybody could embrace this guy.”
Well, talk about nailing your colours (colors) to the mast. It's just (embracingly) incredible.

Alison-The whole medical industry has made loads of money out of FDA approved opioids.Doctors,Manfacturers and Pharmacies have all benefited from the addiction they have created. Its no different to the tobacco industry.
Doctors say they are using FDA approved medicines to treat pain and the manufactures argue that they are producing FDA approved drugs for sale. Both argue that it is up to the FDA to regulate opiod use in medicines.
Of course the Chinese who have long experience with underworld opium houses and addiction and realize that many Americans have become addicted to opioids and they supply the illegal market to satisfy the demands of the addicts .According to Google a kilo of Fentanyl on the black marked fetches over a million dollars.
All I did was point out that the biggest increase in abuse occurred during the Obama administration's watch.I certainly was not saying it is a good thing.
Trump's administration now has the task of trying to stop the epidemic which the Wiki graphs are showing is already somewhat of a crisis.Strangely the Democrats seem to have litte desire to help stop the flow of Chinese Fentanyl from Mexico that takes place in amongst all of the human trafficking. They hold that the southern border protections are adequate and that there is no crisis at the border.
The Texas AG reported that over 20 million doses of Fentanyl were seized at the Texas borders alone in 2018 which they estimate is about 10 to 20 % of what is actually comming through.

"About 80 percent (Aka 100% less 20%) of the pure fentanyl seized by U.S. authorities last fiscal year arrived from China, often through the mail."about 10 to 20 % of what is actually comming through
You need a wall for the mail?
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
The seizures that I was refering to were only at the Texas part of the border.
Re: The US Hamster Wheel
.... and I allowed you 20% accordingly!! Again - 100 - 20 = 80.
