That was very familiar, but poorly remembered. Took close inspection of the image to jog my memeory.

The Start Bay Inn, Torcross, Devon.
OH if confirmed, as will be out for the rest of the evening.

The Sherman tank is just visible at the end of the car park on the left of the photo, we are at Slapton sands, famous for the tragedy in WWII when US forces under training were attacked by E boats resulting in many deaths.
Well found Puggie, Open House declared.

Taken in 1982, but doubt it has changed much...

Thinking along similar lines, could it be one of the Mayan ruin sites somewhere in Belize?
Looking.

Good guesses. It IS Mexico, not Belize however.

Looks Mayan. Not Palenque is it?

Ben There would undoubtedly identify it.

According to senior daughter, it's the Tulum Ruins. She's off that way again in a couple of months so she can go swimming with the turtles at Akumal - buggah of a job but somebody's got to do it.

OH if correct as I've got a load of concrete to pour at me canal today.
It's always my fault - SWMBO

4M's dotter has it. Guess cruise ships have been stopping there for "centuries" now. Open House.

{Swimming with turtles reminds me of our experience swimming with sharks, which I told them they should bill as a "once in a lifetime experience". Don't think they got it.}

Here 'tis, but not a challenge- still open house. The location is shown in the caption. One just likes the photo.

Not Montreal but you are on the right track. It was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1990.
