This is a poll. Who will be UK's next PM?
Re: This is a poll. Who will be UK's next PM?
Ian, I have intentionally set it up as a poll for who will be, rather than who you might want it to be.
If you would like to set one up for who you would like to be PM, to run in parallel, please do so. It will make an interesting comparison.
You may have to ask Alison for permission to set up a poll, as it is not automatically enabled.

Ian, that has the same issue that Cape found, maximum 10 names. If you want Nigel that is a valid vote but otherwise impracticable.

Cape, as Ian's suggestion is unbounded, unlike yours, there might be a way. In a new thread we throw up a number of possible as which might include a number of names from your list but also others, then for Ian to pick 10 and is to vote.

Meanwhile from the snake oil salesman
Mr Gove confirmed on Sunday that he would run for leader, saying: "I believe that I'm ready to unite the Conservative and Unionist Party, ready to deliver Brexit, and ready to lead this great country." He is expected to outline his pitch later.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

.I believe that I'm ready to unite the Conservative and Unionist Party, ready to deliver Brexit
Two objectives that are completely at odds, Hammond has today said that he will bring down the Government if a hard Brexiteer is selected as leader.
I believe that we are entering a political phase in which we will look back at the strong and stable leadership of Mrs May and wonder how they could get it all so wrong, twice.
Best left to the Lib Dems (remain) and Brexit Party (leave) to fight it out, both Labour and Conservatives don't deserve to be near Government for at least two decades.

I think Gove is probably the more experienced politician having held several ministerial appointments. Johnson would appear to have been popular and effective as mayor of London. He certainly introduced the Veterans' Oyster card which I use occasionally.
Johnson is undoubtedly the more charismatic and probably more leader than follower. He didn't 'follow' TM to any great extent.
While many think him a light weight buffoon he may well be better at leading rather than doing.

Re: This is a poll. Who will be UK's next PM?
Fair comment, but as there were only 10 possibilities I didn't offer that one.
Remember too that the poll is not 'who would you like to see as the next PM', but 'who do you think it will be?'

Rees Mogg seems to be more of a journalist and broadcaster than MP, he is still writing articles in the Tory papers and also on LBC.
Looking at the various hopefuls and their positions the only two that seem to be not tainted with duplicity, treachery, deceit, naked ambition and obvious personal deficiencies are Andrea Leadsom and Dominic Rabb, so that precludes these two I suppose.
I listened to the dreadful Ester Mcvay for several minutes, that posh/scouse accent just won't do I'm afraid, we need a PM that can be understood.

Re: This is a poll. Who will be UK's next PM?
Dominic Raab; Andrea Leadsom (in that order).
Re: This is a poll. Who will be UK's next PM?
UP - agree, but they won't make it.
The Conservatives seldom seem to pick the right person, so unfortunately I had to tick Boris.

Whatever you think of George Galloway, I think he's nailed it, here.

Why do these people SHOUT?
Re: This is a poll. Who will be UK's next PM?
it's a pet hate of mine too, people who FIND IT NECESSARY TO SHOUT ON TV. Seems to be a particular characteristic of sports commentators (which I never watch as I hate TV sport anyway) and USAmerican 'chat' and 'comedy' shows.

Alas, you seem to have missed this epic print run and testimony.....om15 wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2019 8:15 pmRees Mogg seems to be more of a journalist and broadcaster than MP, he is still writing articles in the Tory papers and also on LBC.

As for the next "leader ", the choice is uninspiring so whoever the party faithful choose, won't make any difference to the Tory demise....which is a nice thought really now isn't it.
Finally, sports commentators. Depends entirely on the sport and inflection required for the audience. Peter O'Sullevan was noted for rising to a crescendo as the finishing line approached, Murray Walker used to get "somewhat agitated "..but, thankfully, snooker commentary is relaxed and of course, cricket commentary has always been sanguine and laconic, reflecting as it does the cerebral nature of the game.

Re: This is a poll. Who will be UK's next PM?
I'm going for Boris and Dominic Raab, mostly because I suspect that no one will want another woman and Gove doesn't have the charisma required.
