Back in 1999, Silverstone became the busiest airfield in the World on the day of the Grand Prix. All done VFR. Over 4000 movements.
I flew the Silverstone shuttle for a few years, last one in 1998. There were several visual holding points from which you were called in to land. I forget when it was but one year a S61 joined and started to go round one of the holds in the wrong direction. It just had to be ......Irish Helicopters!

The days of the exodus from Aberdeen to Silverstone of large helicopters for the weekend have long gone.

Please give our best wishes to RiS. See if you can beat him to the draw when it comes to paying!
Ah now then already won on that because signing on our hotel room. Regards from RiS.

He is managing to slide the odd round in though.

Would appear that the Ex-Ascots and my brother/wife in law were both in Athens departures at the same time. (Is that trivial enough for this thread ?)

Mrs 4ma has now ceased all domestic activity until the Cricket World Cup Final has finished.

4m, I totally concur. It beats watching paint dry. I just hope the rain holds off as I painted the bench outside for the 8th time. First 3 ended when the B&Q water based paint changed colour when wet. Next 3 were fine until a light drizzle pitted the final coat. The 7th undercoat of waterbase ran when heavy unforecast rain arrived. Now waiting for 8th to dry.

AND first wicket 😀

He can, particularly from the fluffy toys, The Ball is proving resilient though. I could spend the whole day throwing it if I wanted.

Apropos of nothing at all, an Avro Anson has just flown over, presumably on his way to Blackpool.

As far as we're concerned, none of them, we're out to lunch as it is SM's birthday tomorrow and on Mondays we're always busy.

GG
At the RAF Museum Cosford, I went all bleary eyed at the Anson, and informed SM that I made my 1st air-experience flight as a B/E in one in 1952.

She was horrified!

Went for a run into Somerset on the Tracer this morning, heading south from Yeovil a familiar shape flew over me heading north, a Shorts Skyvan, I didn't know there were any left in service, possibly dropping parachutists somewhere.
Very muggy, just watered the allotment and off for Sunday lunch at the pub, this week it is the Swan in Stur, I hope to have a pie.

Best thoughts for recuperations for them as needs it.

We went out here earlier this week.

The pie I had was not like the one in their website pic.
Rather mediocre and not to be recommended.

Incredible service at ATH. Fast tracked all the way through even lowered a barrier to let us go through the diplomatic passport clearance. New lounge to us here, Qatar use Swissport. Much better than the one EK use. That one often used to get full. Only a few other folk in here. All looks new. Very smart leather couches. Loads of booze and good grub.

Guess which idiot tried to walk through security with his smart phone in his pocket.

A Skyvan used to make the occasional appearance at Langar so human meatballs could jump out of the back.

PN, I spotted the error of your ways with painting your bench - you mentioned "B&Q". ;)))

Just opened the 1st beer from a case of 24, and discovered that the case contains 'Limited Edition' cans!

It seems that are numbered 1 to 15 to celebrate the winning Bokkie team of the 1995 RWC.

Anyone in the market for 24 empty beer cans? The beer tastes normal, so I'll be drinking it.

Nine flights scheduled to leave ATH at 19.00. Funny old thing we are still.sitting on the stand. Rag head captain is keeping us well informed. Stewardess can't stand frogs but said she couldn't discuss it in uniform. Told her to take it off.

One is risking his life if the team I met earlier today was still together while above exchange took place.

For some reason I still feel sleepy. I have arranged to go out for A bier later today.
ian16th can you get another special package?

I flew a 206 on that gig in '79 and the Alouette in '81. It was fun to be among so many helicopters.
