The pound is back up to 1.13 and climbing despite David Cameron's spouting pretentious nonsense based on the contents of flawed recollections in today's "Telegraph". Or should that be "because" not "despite" ?

OFSO.
That's because the city can smell a deal.
Even my own currency trader rang me yesterday, to advise that if a deal comes off, the pound will rocket.

These guys are uncannily well informed.

Perhaps it was a mistake to not buy the quid, but I didn't.

The way I see it is this:
The UK has had a big debate over the last 30-40 years about 'Europe'.
Our elected politicians could never resolve the issue.
The Conservative party was riven over Europe, and the last 4 or 5 Tory leaders succumbed to issues related to 'Europe'. Remember John Majors 'bastards'? These are the same bastards that Boris just chucked out the party.

In desperation, the politicians, led by our very own Mr.Cameron, decided to let the people decide what THEY could not, in the hope of putting the matter to bed, for good.

The people obliged him, and CHOSE.
A thing the pollies had demonstrated that they could NOT DO.

Now, although the pollies still cannot agree on anything, they AGREE that they know better, and that the people got it wrong.

Our idiot politicians can still not agree on the way forward, but surely, that's why it had to be put to the vote?

Why give a referendum, if it's to be ignored?

They better watch out.

Leave on 31 October, or prepare for trouble.

AK, not at all. The people might give the right decision this time.

If course of they get it wrong they can also try again.

If a Parliament cannot carry out the will of the people, then it is Parliament that needs changing, as many times as necessary, until it can.
It is the height of arrogance for politicians, or anyone else (DC being one), to even suggest otherwise.

I think that that is a deep and genuine anger developing within the normal Joe Public, the shill and transparent whining from the remain camp doesn't mask the fact that the establishment is shafting the electorate, Boris is making a last ditch attempt to save the Tory Party, (although that is mainly comprised of people that are trying to stop him), I suspect that he might not manage it, but I suppose that he is at least trying.

The Lib Dems under the Dental Hygienist are at least open about the fact that it doesn't matter how many referendums there are, or what the results are, they will ignore this and make us stay in the EU.

Labour still are unable to articulate anything that can be understood by anyone, they have locked Diane "the only problem with England is the white people" Abbott in the broom cupboard, but have put Jumbo Thornberry on display to advise that they will negotiate a deal and then vote against it, complete **** idiots and don't have a clue.

The Tories are trying to be all things to everyone and the sooner they are extinct the better.

Who does that leave? SNP and Welsh lot are only squabbling about stuff for themselves, nothing to benefit the UK there.

Brexit Party are quietly building up their prospective candidates and as a Brexit Party subscriber I receive daily business like emails of intentions and objectives, a clear message and a sense of purpose, I reckon that they will storm the election, and those who shudder at the thought might reflect on their own lack of loyalty to the electorate

Liberal Democrats are no such thing if they do not accept democracy.
Their name gives them a duty to support Brexit.
They are at liberty to express their dissatisfaction, and to campaign to re-enter the EU, but they cannot oppose Brexit under all circumstances.

What REALLY annoys me (maybe this should be in the Rant thread!) is the Lib Dems and all other Remainers continually spouting that we need another referendum because the result of the initial one was because the 'Leave' voters did not understand what they were voting for. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

I voted Leave, and I knew EXACTLY what I was voting for.
We hates Bagginses!

The media regard you as somewhere between ignorant, stupid, and deplorable.
As do all "liberals".
Your views are therefore rated zero, and not worthy of reporting, or even consideration.
It does not matter how many of you there are; they may not be able to do much maths, but 17 million times zero is still zero.

Boris didn't seem to achieve much today and didn't have much to say in his interviews. Hope he is going to do better as Prime Minister than he did as Foreign Secretary.
Our local paper held a Brexit Poll this week, considering that the locals voted 70/30 to leave in the referendum the result 52/48 to Remain came as big surprise..

Someone on the Jeremy Vine show this afternoon made a comment which sounded like "Article 50 should be revoked as the electorate can't be trusted to make the right decision". Both myself and my colleague said "Did I hear that right?" If any one has access to I-player, it was on the JV show when he was doing a piece on the Lib Dem conference.
It's always my fault - SWMBO

If the electorate can't be trusted with that, what can they be trusted with?

Cameron:
"The former prime minister said he had 'huge regrets' including losing the referendum and allowing expectations about his renegotiation to 'run far too high'.
He also regretted the timing of the poll and some of the decisions made during the referendum campaign.
He added: 'My attempt to solve this problem failed and decisions I made perhaps contributed to that failure but it was at least an honest attempt to grapple with the decision.'
"

Translation:
"I thought a Remain vote would be a shoe-in, and would finally silence the whingers in my Party; boy, did I f#ck up!"

Excellent interview with David Starkey explaining why the Remainers are "traitors" and "lying, deceiving sh!ts". After which he really takes the gloves off ;)))

Cheers Fox.
Enjoyed listening to that.
He seems to me to be mostly correct.
