Just passed Madrid heading north.
Should be early into LGW.
Slasher must be keeping his head down in Honkers. Hope he’s ok.
Just noticed the safety instructions card is for a 737-800 and 737-8MAX

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
k3k3 if we have an electrical fire we will have no electrics to run a pump for a fire system. The system is actually in a shed well away from the house. The solar oven is of course outside.
A very sad hippo day. Saw a lone male down river the other day. Low water no food very grumpy. Started to attack fishermen. The wildlife department have just shot it dead across river from us. Thought that it was the teenager who was born right by our boat but it is too big. Seems that our teenager was hungry and couldn't find any deep water so tried to rejoin the pod. He is lying in very shallow water up river in a bad state having been attacked probably by the dominant male.
The dead one is being chopped up for the meat. Our gardener swam across to get his share.
Not very nice at the safari camp this lunchtime. Another private school group from town who were very noisy. The official tourist group were not happy. Hope they complain. We made our views known but we are just casual visitors not paying guests.

Ex-A, for some reason that was the wrong video, knowing your limited supplies of electrickery I was thinking of portable 6 litre extinguishers like this:

Interesting. Thank you k3k3. Didn't think that you were supposed to use water on an electrical fire. We have a powder fire extinguisher in the house. However if we ever had a fire in the electrics shed it is so far away we wouldn't know for ages. And, now the fuel is out of there nothing to burn really. Brick walls and tin roof.

Remember that video is only demonstrating different extinguishers liquid fires. A fuel fire needs to have its oxygen supply cut off. Water mist does just that with less mess than foam.
A wood fire needs to have its oxygen supply cut off too but also cooled to prevent self ignition. Water mist will only do half the job.
I successfully used water must on a chimney fire over 30 years ago (should have patented it). I filled a 9 litre pressure sprayer and sprayed up the chimney. I think I used no more than a litre. Clearly the re ignition source was damped too.

EX-A, you're right that normal water extinguishers must not be used on electrics as you will probably end up dead, however, the water mist extinguishers use de-ionised water which is less conductive anyway, and the water droplets are so small that they do not provide a conductive path, the tiny droplets are produced by their clever nozzle. They are certified as safe up to 1kv.

K3k3, which presupposes a supply of deionized water.

Took Faraday to the vet for her ultrasound scan yesterday. Sadly, no puppies this time, so wait six (ish) months and try again.

Fire brigade put out our chimney fire using mist from the top. No water ran out in the living room or in the ceiling crawl space. Precise amounts of water. Very thankful as decorators had finished two days before. Then scanned whole ceiling space for hot spots.

PN, the fire extinguishers come pre-filled.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread IV
Morning folks. Seems that the hippo attack on the fishermen was quite serious. One was badly damaged. Even worse news is that he is in our hospital here. Our private health care will not recognise any hospital in Botswana. They butchered the hippo, apparently only it's head remains on the bank, can't see it from here which means we can't smell it, yet!
A few drops of rain this morning but now genny going to run the borehole pump to water. The lagoon is getting very low.
Hope that they aren't working you too hard today Capt. What did you get for your birthday? A riot shield maybe.
Sisemen, see that the Flt Lt from your old base (and mine) got off with trying to murder his Sqn Ldr partner. Getting done for assault now. When were you at Benson? I was there Jan 83 for three years.

Morning, all. Another below-zero dawn in north-east Iberia.
