Sorry John,
As a reflection on your comments of quid pro quo I couldn't resist this education.
Quid pro quo has been a fact of life since before memory so the Democrats need to grow up.

Pop across to Amazon books and have a look at the reviews of the books by Greg Palast on the subject of democracy?
His observations are just as valid in UK as they are in the good old USA.
Still, it’s therapeutic to toddle along to the voting station and pencil an ‘X’ in one or all of the proffered boxes.
One gets that warm wet feeling that change might just occur and one has done one’s democratic duty.
After which settle down with a glass or 5 and hope oblivion sets in quickly?

It may seem reasonable to belittle the power of the ballot box but consider that the two most controversial topics in western politics today, that are splitting nations apart, are Brexit and Trump and both situations were precipitated by ballots.

I'm heartened to see some rumblings for independence in Alberta.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/ ... separatism
When you look at the whole, the overbearing federal dominance of a too centralized government, dominated by an entrenched bureaucracy dominated almost always by Leftists, rubs a lot of people, like me, the wrong way. It's a factor in Brexit, too.
When the US ultimately breaks up as a result of Left and Right no longer being able to get along in a federation, I expect Alberta and maybe a few other Canadian provinces, 'yearning to breathe free', to join the new Constitutional States of America. The rest of Politically Correct North America can go to hell, where they belong.

I hope that will not mean the end of your socialist state paid pensions.

Me too. At last we can agree on something.
A minor quibble, though. My pensions were earned. They were funded by my contributions. None of them were given to me for sitting around and doing nothing, which seems to me to be the aim of socialism.

Interesting reading at https://www.rand.org/pubs/research_briefs/RB3005.html but I dont see where your contributions are mentioned.

News clip showed Trump pardoning two turkeys for thanksgiving day. But there was no mention as to whether they got to keep their Trident pins.

People are realising
The audience in Florida at Humpty's rally apparently chanted 'BullSh!t' as he spoke. The truth will out.

BOAC,

I think you misinterpreted the report you read (or it was a deliberate distortion by the media involved?).

In case you need an explanation Trump called the impeachment proceedings BS and the supportive crowd echoed his assessment.

The crowd cheered, and apparently there were chants of “*****!”“They’re pushing that impeachment witch hunt and a lot of bad things are happening to them,” Trump said. “Because you see what’s happening in the polls? Everybody said that’s really *****!”

https://www.politico.com/newsletters/fl ... nes-487768He went so far as to call the impeachment proceedings “*****,” prompting a new audience chant containing the expletive.
