Alternative religions...

#1 Post by TheGreenGoblin » Sat Nov 30, 2019 6:00 am

As a one time Pastafarian (all hail his divine Noodlyness) I can confirm that I am now more attracted to the ancient, but hallowed rites, of the Pythonist cult.

What "religions" do other people on ops-normal favour?

Although I'm an agnostic, I claim to have received my education at St. Lucifer's school for wayward boys.

I worship nothing but The Snatch.

I give it ongoing sacrifices of cash and jewelry. It is all powerful and it ruleth strictly. Kings have abdicated thrones for it. It can give exquisite pleasure, but in its wrath it can withhold same for longer than Man can endure. It can be loved and adored yet hated and detested at the same time.

But ‘tis a very forgiving goddess when flowers and chocolates are presented at its divine altar.

All hail and kneel respectfully in its gracious presence. Amen.

I should also state I’m a devout Pythonist nonetheless, and found the film distasteful as well. [-(

Religion, being a human-organised way to worship God, is completely unnecessary to people of intelligence, so one might as well accepted it for the farce it is and follow the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Bush Baptist. The main tenet of a Bush Baptist is to never tempt your fellow man so we screw all the women and drink all the booze to remove the temptation.

The heinousness on this thread is unbelievable, sure and you're all a bunch of pagan fornicators and heathens not deserving of setting a foot a quarter inch inside the Gates of Paradise, so there.

What's heinousness mean OFSO? And does it have anything to do with Allans Snackbar.

There is a MCC called the Pagans. I suspect they are all fornicators but I wouldn't dare say that to their faces. Although being a USA based gang they originally swelled British biking manufacturing coffers by riding Triumphs. They worshiped sex, drugs and rock and roll and the Norse Fire God Surtr and are sworn enemies of the Hells Angels... These days they ride the abominable Harley Davidson motorcycle and unlike the 60's when they were a bunch of Vietnam vets looking for beer, camaraderie etc. (a little like people on ops-normal I guess) they are now a bunch of hardened criminals who serve the god Mammon.

As Norse Gods go I am more of a Loki man myself.

My take on MCC was as the Metropolitan Community Church. An Episcopalian/Anglican offshoot that specifically supported GLTB congregations worldwide.

From where I am sitting, that MCC sounds like a truly Christian church.

As you clearly know, the Episcopalians are more of an easy going lot in comparison to High Church Anglicans and, Loki forbid, the hide bound Catholics who don't have female priests and eschew the GLTB congregation for the most part.

Yup, I was a member for many years, but drifted away after meeting with Bishop (retd) "Jack" Spong. Totally enamoured in his thoughts and books. Ran an Australian forum for his followers for a few years.

The Margate Country Club and not the Pagan Motorcycle Club? :)

I imagine you might be a member of both the UK based cricket club and the Natal located country club although cricket is a religion of sorts to some I know!

Being a Yorkshireman of a certain age, cricket is my religion. My gods were Norman Yardley and Len ‘Utton.

In a later life, for a while I was a regular customer of the old Lords Tavern. I used to lunch there in the winter.
We ate in the room that faced onto the pitch. It was a rather surreal experience eating ones lunch, looking at a deserted Lords, which was covered in snow.

The pub was structured so that doors between the ground-side and the street-side could be closed & locked. During the cricket season, after work we regulars were surreptitiously let through to the ground-side to watch the last half hour or so’s play with a glass in hand.
A pleasant way to wind down after a busy day at work.
