The Duke and Duchess of Sussex
Re: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex
For someone who has just PVR'd it is odd that they choose this as their web site title https://sussexroyal.com/
Re: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex
To mark the start of the new year the Queen shared a gorgeous photo of her with her three heirs, taken in Buckingham Palace's throne room.
The Sussexes were upset that they were not included in the family photo.
"The Times understands that the Sussexes were upset at the release of the "line of succession" photograph and saw it as a signal that they were being excluded from royal life.
"They will have taken the same message from the fact that there were no images of them among the framed photographs on the Queen's desk when she delivered her Christmas Day message.
"Their decision to "step back" from royal duties was, in part, triggered by those signals."

Re: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex
Whatever the solution, if they are to be 'financially independent' then that is how it should be, or I reckon there will be a huge amount of discontent in the UK. I have no issues with them 'separating' from the Royal Family if that is what they want, and wish them every success, but it seems the way of doing it was crass. I have zero insight into any 'too-ings and fro-ings' and hurt feelings inside the Royals.
I would prefer a 'quick and dirty' divorce settlement and let's move on.

Re: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex
yeah, if one wants (ones want) to be independent, they don't cash on their 'royal', sussex or not.
Also, as the 'personal happiness' often tends to be quite fragile, it's sweet to see there are people who put everything on this card. But.
P.P.S. another interesting one Harry and Meghan aren't actually quitting the family business

P.S. isn't it interesting how Mme Tussaud's solved the issue. If they want to be the new Kardashians, they'll get treated like the new Kardashians.

As the evening wore on, a new website for the couple -- www.sussexroyal.com - slowly spluttered into life, which bore all the marks of hasty copy-editing. In a series of statements across its pages, the pair made clear that they intend to remain '"royal" patrons of charities, take part in some royal activities, and most importantly of all, continue to receive money from Harry's father, the Prince of Wales, who in turn receives most of his income from the royal body, the Duchy of Cornwall. Even the Sussexes' own website acknowledges that they're only relinquishing 5% of their existing income.
Meanwhile, the Queen's offices at Buckingham Palace put out a terse response stating that nothing had yet been finalized. Harry had warned neither his grandmother, his father nor his brother that he would be making this statement. The BBC reported that Buckingham Palace is "disappointed" -- Britspeak for "the Queen is livid."

I read the link above, what nonsense is written, it is at Guardian level of journalism, absolute tosh.
I suppose that this saga of the soon to be ex Royals is conveniently timed, it neatly bridges the gap between the non event of WW3 ( that happened earlier this week if you have forgotten) and the up coming trial of Alex Salmond, so it does tide us over a boring couple of weeks.
Anybody notice that the Withdrawal Bill slid through the Commons today, nothing much is being said about that, overshadowed by this Royal Family stuff.

Oh, God, not that ...
...but of course, anything will do for the agenda....I salute her and Harry for extricating themselves, and their young son, from this clearly damaging, impossible environment.

Re: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex
If they want to give up being senior Royals, that is up to them.
What is unforgivable, IMHO, is their gross bad manners and discourtesy displayed toward the Sovereign in their method of announcing their intentions. Totally disappointed in Harry in that he does/should know better than to behave like that. Not in the least bit surprised at the behaviour of interloper.
If she wants to go back to the other side of the Atlantic, there are plenty of aeroplanes leaving Heathrow tomorrow for the land she so much prefers - I'm sure she could be found a seat in Economy as befits her true status.
God save the Queen.

She says thrown at Meghan. She might have mentioned both gingism and worse ginge beardism.
Re: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex
Meghan Markle has reportedly flown to Canada leaving Harry to deal with the fall-out of their announcement to 'step back' as senior royals.
Sources are believed to have told the Mail she "had not" planned on staying in the UK for long after their six week Christmas break.

Re: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex
No mention of Archie. Poor mite, apparently he stayed in Canada so it was clearly planned for Meghan to return to Canada.

On the thread that was locked, several of us predicted that this marriage would come to a sticky end.
Now I read on glancing through the news that :

I hope HRH Prince Harry can walk away from this and regain some of his dignity and credibility, and restore relationships with the rest of the Royals. The Daily Mail has learnt that Meghan Markle has returned to North America, where her and Prince Harry's eight-month-old son, Archie, had been left with his nanny. She may stay there for the foreseeable future.

Re: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex
The Queen's the Queen, and really beyond reproach. I'm sure most, but certainly not all, have nothing but respect for her.
As far as the rest are concerned, with a couple of exceptions, they behave like spoilt upper class twits.
Methinks they are treading on thin ice, and it may crack a lot sooner than some of them realise.
There has to be a limit as far as the publics patience is concerned. Charles' cheating, Andrews' whoring and Harry's skiving are testing the limits.

Self destruction of the Royal Family. Sad but inevitable given stupidity combined with arrogance in everyone from Charles down. Just sorry for the Queen, a fine lady.

...after speaking to advisors linked to Hilary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey...
Well, what would one expect, then.
So, they can't bear to live with the media scrutiny, and then they quit like this?

Re: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex
I suspect Charles, when he becomes numero uno, may well be planning to revise the Royal Family and pay along the lines of Spain and the Netherlands, whereby only he, Camilla, William, Kate and the three children are for no better phrase "Full time employees of The Firm". ie: the direct line to the throne.
The rest of the Royal Family will then be paid on a job by job basis and hired in as required.
Harry is bright enough to have realised this and decided to make a head start. His and Megan's announcement may bring Charles plan forward.
