Then the posters had fun seeming to post all Taylor's into the sqn.
We had a surfeit of Smiths on 214, which gave rise to some odd nicknames.

But not as bad as looking for a particular Jones in the Cardiff phone directory.

I heard it tell, but can't confirm, that BOAC Rosters spent many months organising individual duties and days off until they could roster a complete aircraft crew of the same surname ( I think Taylor ? ) from Captain to most junior cabin crew member ! Such fun.

Last night I was at my sister's father in law funeral. There was a dinner after it at the old man's home. Besides my sister I was the only one from her side of the family. For those who know me I am a rather talkative person however I decided to allow other people doing the small talk. As we were preparing to leave, my sister realized the other relatives didn't know who I was - nobody including myself bothered to make introductions. We did run a very late round of introductions but I guess it can be considered as a lack of manners.

My present problem, at public events and the like, is being addressed by a familiar face that obviously knows me, and whom I can recognise as having once known their name, but now for the life of me can't put a name to, and sometimes can't even remember the original contact occasion.

How does one politely say, I know we have met before, maybe were even regular attendees at some common interest group, but who the hell are you ?

'tis a puzzlement, said Alice.

ExSp33db1rd RiS family used to be friends with a politician. When people approached him fully expecting to recognize them, he maintained a neutral attitude avoiding any reference to names or events. I don't remember how he handled a longer conversation but he was good at avoiding to admit he didn't know the person.

I'm getting the hang of it ! I wouldn't be too bothered as a Politician, they meet millions as part of the game, but personal social connections ?
