About 15 years ago, on a company computer, I was researching ship to shore container gantry cranes looking to improve speed.

Searched "spreader bars" and discovered a whole new World! Luckily our IT manager was a mate and accepted that it was an innocent act on my part.

The site will be down from Saturday 22nd 12:00Z for possibly 24 hours for maintenance - moving to a newer server. Alison/Admin
WTF are we going to do at the weekend, even SM is away :((
I'm passing my time by taking printed copies of the island's monthly magazine (began in 2005), scanning them and then uploading them to the website; a lot of editions are already online but the very early editions were only ever "hard copy". The magazine began just after we arrived here in 2004 and I took it over about 10 years ago. Looking back just 14 or 15 years it's amazing how much I've forgotten about events and personalities on the island.
If you want a peek go to this web page. I'm currently up to edition 19.

Regarding Alisin's legacy plan with her provider, I was one of the early adopters of Talktalk who offered a few for the life of the contract broadband, unlimited at 2,400 kbs. After some time I got a notification of a price rise. I rang them up and said 'wrong '. They argued so I pulled out the contract.

Sorry they said, we can't charge you nothing so we will give you a rebate. This went on every year for over five years until eventually they started to offer higher speeds and I eventually let them off the hook.

I still twist their arm from time to time as an original customer.

Morning all.

Hope for a normalish FRIDAY. Its a bit grey outside.

Spent 6 hours yesterday at CdS hospital with Mrs IB. Back there again to see her consultant on Monday. She is in great pain and has another infection.

Mrs OFSO still has congestion in her lungs, coughing and choking. Off to see yet another pharmacy this morning which is reputed to have what we need and understand prescriptions. Fourth time lucky maybe...

The problem with the Spanish national health system is that the pharmacies who hand out medicines to registered patients send bills in to Madrid for reimbursement. Madrid is not bothering to pay the Catalan pharmacies who are left to subsidise patients themselves. The result is that Catalan pharmacies are not buying drugs to keep in stock. One pharmacy owner said to me "it is only you private patients who pay in cash that keep us going."
The system is breaking down.

Morning folks. Town day instead of Thursday because I wanted another 24 hrs on antibiotics before he looked at the lump on the neck. When there decided to run the full course until Monday and asses it then. In other words I wanted to stay in the pub and avoid a knife.

The pub is a safari camp the other side of town. Big weekend. Cricket match just up the road. Gaborone, Maun (MCC!) and Vic Falls. All three teams staying at the camp. We know some of the Maun team. First match due to start at 11.00. At 09.00 they were all knocking back beer over very large breakfasts and smoking like chimneys. Needless to say that there is a bar at the field. All back to the safari camp after the match. It will be a wild evening. Same again tomorrow.

Asked a Maun player who he thought would win. He said Gabs. VFCC and MCC all odd tee shirts and shorts. Gabs in matching tee shirts and shorts with club logo the front and sponsorship company logos on the back. He may be right. Of all three teams only saw one NR. Interesting.

Would Scotland be any better if we self-amputated from the mothercountry?

My local Pharmacia seems to have a normal supply and she is taking on staff so times cannot be hard.
Maybe the situation chez OFSO is Madrid punishing the Catalans.

Just did a self operation on neck after a few scotches. Didn't hurt that much actually. Nursie patching me up afterwards hurt more but not much. We think problem solved. BIg lump came out which I fed to the birds. Keep up antibiotics, clean, dress and observe. If all OK on Monday will phone doctor and thank him. Otherwise a neck transplant.

Very hot. Post operation scotch by the pool. One was jolly brave.

Speaking of matters relating to health and welfare, will we be moved out of our properties into a community centre from Saturday noon while the site is down? I mean, there's nothing on the telly and pub beer is too expensive these days, so how will we entertain ourselves while the landlord moves house? :-\

Wodrick, a one word answer: YES.

This morning visited a fourth pharmacy, this one patronised by the 'Typhoid Mary' who infected us in the first place. Got correct drugs for nebuliser. Checked against photograph sent to us by 'Typhoid Mary' of what he'd been given. The same. Mentioned his name to pharmacist, a grin and "yes we all know Mr. W !" Virus now named after him. Wallerosis Coughyourlungsout.

- I believe Alison is arranging for the Red Cross to call and distribute tea, sandwiches and blankets for us all. :))

As it extends over night, can we have bacon butties later on?

An admirable suggestion - Hunt Balls used to serve bacon sandwiches as punters waited for the carriages to arrive to take them home (leastways, those that I attended as a young man did)

A weekend without access to ops-normal! @-)

What is an addict to do?

Thanks to Alison for all the hard effort and work undertaken to keep the tech up and running etc. We are very lucky really.
