Last week I went to Sainsbury's in Torquay on Wednesday in their special hour for the old and wobbly and faced a 300 metre/25 minute queue to get in. This week I went on Tuesday at 0800 as the NHS hour ended and the place was almost empty. A whole weeks shopping done in 45 minutes, loads of toilet paper and most other things but no flour.

Made it to eighty the other day, got a letter from the pension service this morning telling me that i am now eligible for a higher pension so i will be getting an extra 25 pence per week. This piss taking really should stop it must cost more than 25 pence to administrate it...Probably employs a few more jobsworth.. Been cooking and freezing this mornings nice chicken stew in the slow cooker for this evening. Now that i have nothing to do i think i will go for a walk on my walking machine this afternoon (-| (-|

Afternoon folks. Nice bit of rain today, nothing great but any is appreciated. As long as we have a bit of water in the lagoon when the flood comes it will fill up not soak in.

Our first lock down day. No difference apart from no beer. Staff arrived as usual as they just walk through the bush. With the lagoon being dry we usually have folk walking along the front or kids on donkeys no one today. I think that the village police are enforcing this thing. They could have locked down the village.

Received delivery of a 10kg sack of wholemeal flour from a non-retail source this morning.

At last! Bread from my breadmaker. :-bd :YMPARTY:

My loaves have a hole in their arse, but otherwise they are angel-food.

I'll ask my lad in the Borders (no, not the bookshop...) but I think it is a bit too 'norf' for him.

Our excellent local corner shop Presto last week announced closing indefinitely because of the virus. Opened again today !

Just done my daily walk to the shops to buy an item essential for life, i.e. HD Salted Caramel Ice Cream.

I am having difficulty in acquiring an on line haircut.
Removed an outside wall mounted light assembly, stripped, corrosion control treatment carried out and prime coat applied, ready for top coat (inside white, outside black) tomorrow.
Chewed chaffinch at the kitchen door earlier.
Walk this afternoon, not many about, roads seem rather busy.

If you have a PC with a DVD drive (rare these days) it's possible to modify it to cut your hair. Or so I have been told.

Nice evening walk up to Haggerston Wharf tonight. Some posh double-wide narrow boats moored there. Lots of traffic on Southgate Rd and shoppers walking home from Tesco. Out of Tanqueray tonight. Us, not Tesco.

Whilst we are talking of spirits, the alcoholic variety not the ethereal, I was given a bottle of scotch for my birthday a couple of months ago and am very impressed.

Abrachan a blended malt from Lidl priced at £17.99 or thereabouts and it is truly excellent, in my opinion as good as some costing at least double that. A full, fruity flavour and very smooth. I will certainly be buying more of this. :-bd :-bd :-bd

Lidl also have a rather good Islay single malt called Ben Bracken for the same-ish price.

Though I have enough good whisky to sink (or float) a battleship, and despite the fact that I, perhaps snobbishly, prefer Malt over Blended, I am always up for a tasting of good Blendeds.

There are lots of them out there, just waiting to be enjoyed. Blenders are extraordinarily skillful and clever people. Much of their best work goes under the radar screen of the marketing and reviewing people.

I shall go out of my way to fetch a bottla Abrachan, of which I'd never heard.

Never hard of Ben Bracken either, but shall fetch a coupla bottles, upon your respected recommendation, to add to my collection for future enjoyment.
