the second wave of viruses

#1 Post by probes » Thu May 21, 2020 8:55 pm

- has anybody understood why it's expected?
I haven't had time to really try and find something, and no reasons seem to have been given. Just that it was so with the Spanish flu and China seems to have alarming cases again.

Given the maths and epidemiology of these things it is bound to happen unless this virus behaves in a hitherto unexpected way... (we can hope)...

As intelligent humans we should adapt our ways, show our fragile but lovely world and its other species more respect, and go about our business and start to understand in the grand scheme of things, that as far as the universe and the laws governing that are, we are no more important than the virus...

Intelligence! Humans?

Hmmh...

Interesting question. I think we need to consider what we mean by second wave. With CV it might be the risk of a second surge as lock down is relaxed and could simply be an increased R factor and increase in cases.

The other meaning is of course the following year case. I am no expert but one reason could be what we now experience each winter with flu could apply to CV especially if there is no vaccine. In the case of Spanish flu there was no vaccine as far as I know.

The other worry is if the virus mutates and the vaccine is ineffective.

Oh Ferk.

I wish you hadn't mentioned that weakness.

What if we get a new corona virus later this year or next year. Will we be calling it Covid-19A / Covid-20? :-?
Something to look forward to, not! :ymdevil:

BoJo the Wonderclown will ignore it, until he gets sick himself.

So will that idiot arsehole, the orange clown.

The type of fools who deny global climate change will insist that it's just like winter flu.

The clever countries will be prepared for it with stockpiles of consumables and testing facilities etc, but stoopid countries like UKUSA will not.

Underwriters at Lloyds will very carefully rewrite the wording of their policies which insure against business losses. One of my namecos will thus be off the hook.

BBC "News" will publicise nothing other than gumment propaganda.

Billionaires will be given hundreds of billions of free money.
