VISA Problem
Hi y'all, an instant solution is required.
My oil driller friends are returning on 2.7.2020 on a hired bizjet from deepest Africa to Madrid.
All are EU citizens bar one, who is Russian. He has no visa for Spain.
Not having a visa he can't enter Spain, although all he wants to do is sleep at the airport and leave next day.
He has a ticket on 3.7.2020 from Madrid to Moscow.
Pearl VIP meet-and-greet at the airport are not answering their phone, so first idea is off.
Any ideas ?

Re: VISA Problem
The worst he faces is being deported to Mockba. That's his intention anyway.

Is there not a bigger risk he will be sent back to "deepest Africa"?

Re: VISA Problem
Not once the plane has departed. Of course I am suggesting a modicum of common sense on the part of the Spanish immigration officials.

Re: VISA Problem
If you are enroute from one country to another through a third country's airport then you do not need a visa for that country. You can stay airside until your connection is ready to board. Should it be a long time then you can normally be stamped through with a transit visa. A really miserable country will insist that you sleep on a bench until your boarding time.

There was an Egyptian in front of me at Immigration with exactly this requirement, she was going to Canada, I seemed to be stood waiting for ages while she was processed.

Dangerous misinformation. If see you are enroute from one country to another through a third country's airport then you do not need a visa for that country. Re: VISA Problem
Transit visas available in Spain for passing from arrivals to departures in same airport. Compulsory also for some nationalities. But need applying for days in advance....

Re: VISA Problem
My friends are safely back in Lagos after nearby resup boat stormed by pirates and 14 (white) crew taken off for ransom. Poor sods. Friends haggling with company over return flight costs.

Re: VISA Problem
+1 Been caught out twice with that. Both times in the Caribbean, where they were fairly relaxed about the whole thing, but it taught me a lesson.Capetonian wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 6:43 amDangerous misinformation. If see you are enroute from one country to another through a third country's airport then you do not need a visa for that country.
