QF Farewell the 747

#1 Post by EA01 » Wed Jul 15, 2020 2:20 am

Just drove down to Surfers Paradise beach to watch the farewell flight of QANTAS 747-438 (VH-OEJ) Down the coast at 4000ft, a wide turn around Northern New South Wales, and back up the coast @ 2000ft, before climbing away back to BNE.

I've had some fantastic trans Pacific flights on QFs 747s over the years... :) ....... kinda sad to see it go, but well worth the effort to go down and watch it.

Funny thing was, both Southbound & Northbound, I looked around me, and for all the people walking up and down the Esplanade, not one person seemed to notice a piece of Aviation history passing them by...

She was definitely my favourite aeroplane as a passenger - a real 'Queen of the Skies'.
