Peace and tranquility now reigns within the 4ma family. Mrs 4ma and daughters x 2 have now all had their first post-lockdown trips to the hairdressers.

Stair-rodding it down. I'm not going out in that.
It's always my fault - SWMBO

We're draining the pool to get rid of the purple contamination. (My fault, wrong additive). Mrs OFSO has scrubbed the waterline and removed it. Purple crystals. However SWMBO has drawn my attention to the poor state of the grout....so now builder friend is coming up to see what it will cost. Lots I bet.

This innocent Englishman, on arrival in SA, bought a house with a swimming pool.

Then I started learning. Lesson 1.0 was finding out what a Thomson Tube diatomaceous earth filter was.

The final fix, was to replace it with a stainless steel sand filter.

Just an example of the cost of pool ownership.

Whenever we view a house the estate novelists look incredulously when we announce we couldn't give a flying F### that there is no pool.

Nice to see Snr OFSO has an old pool like wot I do. What did you put in it ?

Is Dolly Blue still available ? I'll wager not in Catalonia.

Thunderstorms to the north of me, thunderstorms to the south, me in the middle scything masses of 5ft tall Rose Bay Willow Herb in what used to be the midden when this was a farm. Trying to get it down before it seeds. My own fault it's this bad, didn't touch it last year and it's now out of control.
Thunderstorms to the north of me, thunderstorms to the south, me in the middle...
Isn't there a song with similar sentiments but different words...can't for the life of me think what it is.....GG, you must know......?

Edit: Mrs C16 has it.... "Stuck In The Middle With You" - Stealers Wheel

Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you

Good band with Scot Jerry Rafferty at the helm! :)

I always thought the lyrics had the cadence of The Charge of the Light Brigade.

"Cannon to the left of them, cannon to the right..."

Rose Bay Willow herb to the left of me etc... ;)))

Don't be too surprised! Its available in this Southern Colony.

Despite its Septic name, it has a SA barcode number, so I think it is locally produced.

Raining steadily here. Checked on the local Boltek detector and flashes lighting up on the south coast. We may get some of the grumbly stuff later.

Surrender gracefully and make peace with the squirrels before you go nuts! ;)))

Or the SAS... Squirrel Airborne Squadron... are called in..

Maybe if the squirrels could shoot back there might be more incentive to do better. :))
What is your weapon of choice vs. squirrels?
Maybe an upgrade in your armaments is required. :-?

Was dragged K&S to John Lewis today for a new mattress and a new rug for the living room. Holy Wossname! Not cheap. The mattress is for the bed, BTW, not the living room. I got a new insteadofshave cologne and a double espresso. Oooohh, lucky me. While SWMBO read the Telegraph, I was graciously allowed to do the food shopping. Oooohh, lucky me. I'm now off to cook satay beef for tea. Oooohh, lucky me.

Any other commands, Your Majesty? Bah, Humbug!

Alternative to hunting:

Hire them on as security staff.
Train them to be "Watch Squirrels".
They would literally work for peanuts. :ymdevil: :)) =))

Rather send the hippo! ;)))

As for your thatch resident squirrels, I hope none of them smoke or take to using napalm in the ongoing war! =))
