Well she pranged Shiraz. Did she bomb a different place?

Lars has it, an Akrotiri based Vulcan had a gear hang up landing at Shiraz in May 1973, I was posted to Aircraft Repair Flight on 103MU in June 1973 and a small working party were on site in Shiraz recovering engines and electronic items, so I missed that job.

Interesting unit, there were 28 people on ARF, mainly we just played volley ball all day waiting for something to happen, jobs that I carried out were a repair to an F4 that nosed into the sand dunes at Akrotiri on landing, rebuilding a F6 Lightning side fuselage following an engine fire, a Canberra nose up repair in Malta and many Lightning and C130 fuel tank leaks. As I recounted somewhere else on here I was part of a team sorting out a TU104 crash at Nicosia in December 1973.

I digress, Lars has three greens.

Seeing we are into Vulcan's, where is this one?

The a/c in the background give a hint or two.

You will note the two enemy flags in front of the building, this commune has links with HG Wells, cycling and Canadian nurses.
