Morning folks. Got a friend down there with the British Antarctic Survey Team PN flying a Twotter. Says it is a great job. They go to South America in the winter. He was a bush pilot here. He is from Ricardian's neck of the woods. Some small island, don't think that there is a ferry they have their own boat. When he goes home in the northern winter he probably thinks it is tropical. He was at college with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Worked as a dispatcher for Reddo's company. Wanted to go back as a pilot but couldn't get the requirements for an ATPL.Pontius Navigator wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 5:45 pmEx-A, in the V-Force copilots became captains or didn't. If they didn't cut it in the 60s (many different reasons) they got some very rare postings. One became a ground FAC. But one, Jules Brett, got a tour with the British Antarctic Survey. As tourex (12 months) approached he applied to extend only to be told his predecessor would replace him. He immediately applied for the following tour.
What to do for 12 months? He applied for Oman Air Force loan service. He visited the sqn driving a brand new Bristol.
Digging it up from one area and taking to another??...I've been looking at about a metre of old grass that the excavator / bobcat combo couldn't get to now for about a fortnight. I was going to (will eventually) move it to the side of the house.More grass transplanting. Four hours this morning and loads more to do.
Fliegs no it's a creeper. Cut off the runners and transplant. However we have got all sorts of different types of grass. Got a box of seed last week which does well in shade. Our Buffalo grass which was doing really well seems to have died. It is a disaster area. Probably why there are not many croquet lawns in the desert.
