From an xspurt in the Torygraph today
No ***** Sherlock. For the record I would say 45% +/- 5%the population immunity threshold. For Covid-19, it has been estimated that this threshold could be as low as 20 per cent or as high as 70 per cent. My estimate is that it’s likely to be somewhere in the middle, between 40 and 50 per cent.

Todays"Times" reports blood samples taken and frozen in 2018 showing immunity to Covid-19 by reason of other infections suggest between 20% and 50% of UK population have this immunity.

Re: Coronabollocks..
Tim Shipman has a piece in the Sunday Times in which he describes the growing discontent in the Parliamentary Conservative Party with Boris Johnson’s leadership. He describes five groups and ranks each one according to how dangerous it is.
Common sense group
MPs: Around 50
Leading lights: Right-wingers such as Iain Duncan Smith and “red wall” MPs such as Lee Anderson
Grievances: Disgruntled with the new tighter measures to control COVID-19, they also want tougher action to curb cross-channel migration and hate plans for tax rises
Trouble rating: Four stars – The new backbench awkward squad
The Brady bunch
MPs: 12
Leading lights: Sir Graham Brady and the other members of the 1922 committee executive
Grievances: The shop steward of Tory backbenchers usually helps to enforce discipline. Instead he is leading the rebellion over Covid
Trouble rating: Five star – If you’ve lost the 22, it’s often the end
Remainder remainers
MPs: Around 20
Leading light: Bob Neill
Grievances: Enraged that the Government was prepared to break international law over Brexit, they have already forced a U-turn so MPs would have to vote on that first
Trouble rating: Three stars
European Research Group
MPs: 80
Leading lights: Steve Baker, John Redwood and Bill Cash
Grievances: Will cry foul if Johnson does not pursue a hard enough Brexit
Trouble rating: Two stars – Dormant, but potentially deadly
The dispossessed
MPs: Dozens and rising
Leading light: Sajid Javid
Grievances: Everyone who has lost/not been given a ministerial job
Trouble rating: Two stars
Stop Press: A new opinion poll puts Labour ahead of the Conservatives for the first time since Boris Johnson became Prime Minister.
It seems as if the Saviour of Brexit may be suffering from ‘Long-Covid’ which is affecting his mental facilities and therefore his suitability for the position is cast into doubt?

Mrs ex-A - I call on your greater medical knowledge! Are the reports in the article of the Oxford trial correct? I understood there was still some doubt about a spinal nerve reaction which has occurred twice, once possibly explained?

Seeing loss of smell and taste is supposed to be a symptom of this virus, I've made up my own home test kit.

Re: Coronabollocks..
Very good 4m, I chose to do something similar over a period of days, you never know when the bug is going to creep up on you so you have to test daily. A nice curry one day, steak grilled with slaverings of Lee and Perrins the next (a weakness of mine), a regular dose of Sake in the evening. To be safe you have to be prepared to keep the tests going for weeks.

the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.

Just a few frightened folks trying to have some fun before we all die from the plague;
https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/a ... ommendedv1
Maybe they have not yet discovered the delights of the back-to-back method as recommended by Terence Higgins?
To those who are regularly using (and enjoying) food to check for Covid-1984 loss of taste/smell senses, don’t forget sniffing the jar of peanut butter to check for early signs of Alzheimers?!

For all those who think that Hancock is embarrassing the Government , they role out Helen Whately
On @SkyNews this morning, Care Minister Helen Whately said the trigger for her reporting a breach of COVID restrictions would be if she saw a marquee in a neighbour's garden. A marquee. This truly is the People's Government.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

Re: Coronabollocks..
I have read other articles which lead me to believe that the research in Oxford has been continued. And I'm sure all the relevant protocols are being followed. It is worth remembering that all medications carry potential adverse reactions, just look at the leaflet which comes in any packet of pills. The data is the result of drug trials such as the ones being performed in order to provide a safe vaccine. As to how effective any of these vaccines will be is another question. As a baby I was vaccinated against whooping cough, but at the age of 13 I still went down with a 'mild' dose of it. But at least it didn't kill me off.

Re: Coronabollocks..
Didn't they find that the adverse reaction occurred in someone that already had a problem?
Of course that is a flag that shows the vaccine is not suitable for all. I think I read that it could react to chemotherapy treatment for instance.
To my mind that suggests that it might be suitable for fit people but those with complications might not be cleared.
