France 24 news showing scenes of extremely violent rioting again in Paris. Thugs going down streets smashing shop windows, hurling Molotov cocktails inside, ditto parked cars, and a few very powerful lasers being used as weapons against the police. Indeed, no holds barred on both sides.

In NornIron at the end of the 60s and through the 70s and beyond, the same expressions of frustration and revolt were adequately demonstrated to the world press, but were euphemistically known as “The Troubles”.

Actually it ended up as a Civil War (an oxymoron if ever there was one!) and should have been reported as such, as should be the current Paris riots.

I presume the Frog for “The Troubles” might translate as “Les Travails” but I eagerly await correction, in a suitable facility of course! ^:)^

UK media hasn't mentioned the furor about the new laws in France that Macron is trying to bring in to control Muslim terrorism. Every Muslim one sees on French TV claims to be peaceful and follows a peaceful religion. And claims anti-Muslim discrimination. Of course!

Then there are the proposed laws forbidding photography of police, which caused riots last weekend in Paris.

Prosecutors are this week seeking a prison sentence for the former president, Sarkozy, for corruption (as if he were the first politician in France to be corrupt.)

And finally today a huge increase in Covid positive tests.

Vive the glory that is France...

De rigueur.

(It is obligatory for leaders to have acquired the lurgi to show that they are part of the situation and can, therefore, understand the suffering of the populace.)

What are the dimensions of a Covid-1984 particle in microns? Will this be a macroeconomic issue?

In France before you have the jab you have to complete a 45 page document, allegedly protecting the ass of anyone involved if anything goes wrong..

Up to a thousand vaccinations in France today. That's the Good news. The Bad news is they've run out as they left it to the EU i. e. Brussels, to buy exclusively from a French supplier who have not made any themselves due to hygiene reasons and thus bought it elsewhere at €50 a pop....and are busy reprinting the labels.

Talking to friends who live SW of Carcassonne today, yes they said also locked down. Then added that their 'lockdown' area extends east to the sea, over an hour's drive away. Also added that sadly the French can't understand the concept of social distancing. So now you know why....

Does social distancing mean only one kiss or two?

Another interesting snippet from English friends living in a small town in France: they will be getting the vaccine next week. Yet I hear there's a shortage in Paris and other large cities. Around half a million injected so far in France. Possible the rural community are brewing up their own in isolated farmhouses and cloistered monasteries.

Macron (yes, in person) announces that if a person already has had Covid-19, only one vaccination is necessary. Nothing to do with thanks to the EU, France only has on order enough vaccine for 25% of the population, of course. Pure coincidence.

Macron is going on TV this evening to address France regarding the surge in cases. Having told the French that the Astra Zeneca has limited effectiveness (because France has only limited supplies) we'll see what excuses for his incompetence he drags up this time. More French than ever arriving here.
