My local foreshore

#1 Post by Alisoncc » Sun Dec 27, 2020 9:30 am

Myf thinks that the new place that I recently moved to is magic. I normally ride down to the foreshore on my ride-on golf buggy with her trotting alongside on her leash. Park the buggy and we walk. During daylight savings she is allowed off her leash before 9:00am and after 7:00pm. Othertimes must be tethered.

This is the foreshore, between the Nepean Hwy and the beach proper. Typically it's a couple of hundred metres wide. It's at the bottom of my street. So I just need to cross the highway and walk down a gravel path to the car park marked, which is our starting point. The second image is from GoogleEarth. It also gives some idea of the terrain of the foreshore. The areas between the trees are kept mown by the council.

Today the tide was in so we walked down to the waters edge and paddled a bit. There are lots of black swans on the water. Didn't know they were sea birds. Myf gets so excited when I dress for our beach trip. Jumping up and down and barking. Then sleeps it off for the rest of the day.

PS The buggy is more to enable me to get back, when buggered.

Looks idealic Alison - you certainly seem to have struck lucky.

Was it an informed choice or serendipity?

Beautiful sandy beach, Alison - always good to paddle.
Any interesting shells, seaweed, flotsam and jetsam?
And with the morn, those angel faces smile...

Looks like they've done their best to keep all the buildings safe - trees to resist erosion of the shore and houses built far enough up the slope to avoid heavy seas in a storm.

Partially informed. When I was working in Melbourne used to play golf down here often. Always thought it wouldn't be a bad place to live. The Bay Trail starts here and goes some distance around the bay - possibly thirty to forty kms. Typical morning there will be at least a dozen people walking dogs at same time as self. Everyone take doggy poop bags along so none to be seen. Which is nice.

And so near! Many lovely places near me but not one I can walk to. Congratulations...
