Spain sounds so chaotic. How can you stand to live there? And isn't it in the EU too?

Re: Chaos in Spain
I can't. But with the collapse of the economies in the countries where potential buyers of my villa live, the place hasn't sold and therefore we are unhappily still here. Spain is indeed a Member State of the EU as far as taking their money goes. Regarding the obeying of regulations concerning political prisoners and torturing them, or allowing other EU citizens to work in Spain... No
Re: Chaos in Spain
That doesn't explain why you moved there in the first place. However, I do think you rather enjoy your victim status. It gives you something to write about.
It does rather put me in mind of the proverb, Pain is inevitable: suffering is optional.

Re: Chaos in Spain
You know OFSO, there's alternatives to Spain or the UK. We've settled in Bulgaria. It's inexpensive, very peaceful and welcoming to foreigners.
I'd recommend it strongly. There's no pc or wanky leftishness here either.
Only problem is my UK chums refer to us a 'the wombles' now...

Yes, there are many lovely places in the world: Catalunia was thirty years ago when I first came here. But both because it's changed out of all recognition, and because I want to return home and live where I was born, London is my destination.

32,000 dosis of Covid vaccine for Catalunia shown arriving at an airport "this Sunday morning" on TV news just now, although oddly enough in broad daylight whereas where I am it's still dark.

OFSO, if that was UK you would then see them again, arm by arm.

Re: Chaos in Spain
In fact every 24 hr TV news channel, Catalan, Spanish, French, German and UK is showing ad infinitum et ab nauseum (correction required) injection after injection. I have requested a vial or twain of the magic juice to be half inched and sent down from the UK, if it ever arrives we shall inject each other but promise not to post photos here of the act.

Re: Chaos in Spain
I suspect that's the plan. More video clips this morning of vaccines "arriving", packages being opened, more shots of young people being "vaccinated". The impression given here is that the vaccination program is being managed superbly. OTOH German TV News is full of "Why did our politicians screw up" clips and grudging admission that the British got it right.

Re: Chaos in Spain
Walking back thru town after an hour in the PO waiting to dispatch a missive to HMRC, I noticed the crowds of working men on pavements - narrow pavements - all waiting to rush into bars cafés and restaurants opening at the AC mandated time of 13:00. In the days of BC, such places would have been open all morning and those wishing lunch would have driften in in ones twos and threes. Now, to prevent them catching Covid, they are forced to stand in shoulder-to-shoulder groups on the pavements and all sit in close proximity around tables two metres apart.....
Re: Chaos in Spain
Not quite clear on who is 'forcing' them
? Is it the police, the army?to stand in shoulder-to-shoulder groups on the pavements
