SpaceX
Re: SpaceX
It appears that they enjoyed it SO much they may be going to do it again...
Pick it up at 11:00'ish.
However, from https://www.teslarati.com/spacex-first- ... ext-steps/
"It’s worth noting that even after SpaceX reinstalls Starship SN15 on a launch mount, there’s no guarantee that the prototype will fly again. Before any reflight, SpaceX will almost certainly put the rocket through at least one additional tank proof test and static fire its Raptor engines. Issues or damage that escaped initial post-flight inspections could easily arise during that process and it’s more likely than not that one or more of SN15’s three Raptors will be removed for detailed inspection or replaced outright."

Re: SpaceX
I noticed that the name of the website that Boac linked to in his last interesting post was teslarati.com and the name tickled me in the light of last night's banter about the Spacex Boca Chica argot, and I now propose that from now on anybody who posts here on that subject may be termed a SpaceX argotnaut!

Re: SpaceX
I have always imagined that website to be one that Colonel Plum watches avidly in his conservatory while clutching his lead pipe (NB For those not familiar with Cluedo...............)
Surely Premium access is provided to those of 'the clan' on purchase along with emblazoned pyjamas and monogrammed Balkan Sobranies??
Meanwhile, back at El Rancho, from 'Nasa Spaceflight.com'
"Starship SN15 is being prepared for a lift back onto the launch pad, this time Suborbital Pad B. It is unclear if it will be flown again but Elon has stated they may attempt to. Meanwhile the Nosecone Test Rig is rolled back to the Production Site."

Re: SpaceX
Just realised that promotion to Colonel was misplaced. He is a Professor.
Re: SpaceX
SN15 is being lifted back onto the launch platform. Have a look at this grab of the process to get some sort of idea of scale. Those little black things underneath it are PEOPLE!!
Re: SpaceX
Submission to the FCC gives basic details of the planned 'orbital' flight with the 'Big' booster under a Starship. Believe it or not, Musk aims to recover both vertically for re-use!
Re: SpaceX
How long does it take to manufacture and build parts which would otherwise be 'saved' by recovery?
My point is that if a recovery was unsuccessful, would this affect the programme?

Re: SpaceX
Judge that by the first 4 Starship flights?
Re: SpaceX
Ho Hum, yet another successful Falcon 9 satellite launch and recovery. Only the 8th landing for the first stage, and the 80th landing of a Falcon 9 booster! Nothing much to see, really.

Re: SpaceX
Thunderbird 1 and Thunderbird 3 managed perfect landings every time back at base, with TB3 managing to nail the silo every time. I guess it was the strings that helped.

And the thought that Lady Penelope would be veru cris very cross if they didn't get the landing right!
I have always had a bit of a string for Milady!

Re: SpaceX
Latest gen I have is that SN17 is to be scrapped, with 15 and 16 retained. With 18 and 19 long gone, we are then onto 20, the 'part-orbital' flyer.

Re: SpaceX
It is an interesting way of working, akin in some ways to the Agile software development methodology... I assume SpaceX reuses a lot of the debris that resulted from the majority of the test that have been made to date but ultimately there is a point where prototyping becomes expensive and the value of the development methodology becomes cost negative. I wonder where they are on that development methodology cost/benefit graph at the moment?

Re: SpaceX
Reports say that all 3 Raptors have been removed from SN15 on its launch pad.
Stories are circulating that a large bungee has been seen on a lorry heading for Starbase.

Re: SpaceX
I see the second stage of the orbital launch tower has been lifted into position at Starbase.
It may be my eyes, but has someone cocked up the measurements? I don't think the RH leg quite fits?
