Re: SCAMMERS !
I imagine Dr Addison will have so many people reaching out to him that one more reaching back, seeking a happy ending from his massaging the accounts could slip one passed him.
Just checked, the address IS the Bank of Ghana. Not sure about the PO Box number. What would happen if I wrote a letter to him?

Re: SCAMMERS !
I do believe this is the time for some creative reaching out.
Begin by sitting in front of your computing machine and opening your graphics package. Create a nice bank letterhead for, for example 'Cooperative Commonwealth Bank of the Republic of Erewhonia'. Fill the document in the style of a bank statement for your personal account with whatever amounts tickle your fancy.
Send that to him and do not forget to include your municipal library card as confirmation of identity.

Been in data comm since we formed the bits individually with a Morse key.

It indeed looks to be genuineErnest Kwamina Yedu Addison is a Ghanaian economist serving as the current and 15th governor of the Bank of Ghana. He had previously worked at the same central bank as director of research from 2003 to 2011, and as an economist at the African Development Bank. Wikipedia

Re: SCAMMERS !
Amazing ! My ( non-existent ) Bitcoin account can be credited with another NZ $76k.
This is the advice I have just received, from :-
the-Btc_Nz-Office e-mail .... hlltfipsv-fniqtktwqahxpkipdleneyajkaaysbaqysi@mobafire.com
Do you think it is safe to give them my bank account number and password for the deposit ?

Re: SCAMMERS !
There are times when I wonder whether it would be worth opening a brand new bank account with the smallest amount possible and giving them details of that. I often wonder why the banks don't have arrangements with law enforcement to do exactly that. Then I wonder if they do, but just don't make it public.

Re: SCAMMERS !
I see the ExSp site is a gaming site. From time to time I email the site, many have been lawyers in the US and I get no reply.
One was in UK and the emails were a complete flood. She replied and if an email can be tearful, this was it. She had been hacked and didn't know how to stop it. It was ruining her business.
Emails from genuine contacts and friends of friends seemed to have died off yet one popped up last week.

Too Good to be true? Received an unlimited Cloud storage offer, only 99c per month. I Googled the company and found some recent excellent reviews. I also found this:
So that's all kosher, so to speak. This company is owned and operated by a deeply unpleasant little man, Muayyad Fahed Shehadeh, a Jordanian national in the UK. He has several companies offering so-called 'lifetime' storage namely Zoolz, BigMind, Genie9, and Polarbackup, and in addition a scam-coin social network Uhive.9 Dec 2020

Hello Alison,
You may not know me and you are probably wondering why you are getting this e mail, right?
I'm a hacker who cracked your devices a few months ago.
I sent you an email from YOUR hacked account.
I setup a malware on the adult vids (porno) web-site and guess what, you visited this site to have fun (you know what I mean).
While you were watching videos, your internet browser started out functioning as a RDP (Remote Control) having a keylogger which gave me accessibility to your screen and web cam.
after that, my software program obtained all of your contacts and files.
You entered a passwords on the websites you visited, and I intercepted it.
Of course you can will change it, or already changed it.
But it doesn't matter, my malware updated it every time.
What did I do?
I created a double-screen video. 1st part shows the video you were watching (you've got a good taste haha . . .), and 2nd part shows the recording of your web cam.
Do not try to find and destroy my virus! (All your data is already uploaded to a remote server)
– Do not try to contact with me
– Various security services will not help you; formatting a disk or destroying a device will not help either, since your data is already on a remote server.
I guarantee you that I will not disturb you again after payment, as you are not my single victim. This is a hacker code of honor.
Don't be mad at me, everyone has their own work.
exactly what should you do?
Well, in my opinion, $1000 (USD) is a fair price for our little secret. You'll make the payment by Bitcoin (if you do not know this, search "how to buy bitcoin" in Google).
My Bitcoin wallet Address:
bc1q8jkxkka5s6ew3262h245zs5wqdpau2yns2gu65
(It is cAsE sensitive, so copy and paste it)
Important:
You have 48 hour in order to make the payment. (I've a facebook pixel in this mail, and at this moment I know that you have read through this email message).
To track the reading of a message and the actions in it, I use the facebook pixel.
Thanks to them. (Everything that is used for the authorities can help us.)
If I do not get the BitCoins, I will certainly send out your video recording to all of your contacts including relatives, coworkers, and so on. Having said that, if I receive the payment, I'll destroy the video immidiately.
If you need evidence, reply with "Yes!" and I will certainly send out your video recording to your 6 contacts. It is a non-negotiable offer, that being said don't waste my personal time and yours by responding to this message.
Filing a complaint somewhere does not make sense because this email cannot be tracked like my bitcoin address. I do not make any mistakes. If I find that you have shared this message with someone else, the video will be immediately distributed. Bye!
Rev Mother Bene Gesserit.

Re: SCAMMERS !
I think it went the rounds in UK about 2 years ago. The price was something like $2,999 or $1,999, there were teo different ones going the rounds.
There must be a scammer shop where you can buy a scam package. A brand new scam will cost top dollar. An older one might pop up on the sale shelf a couple of years later.
The Royal Mail delivery scam asking for £1.99 or £2.99 was common earlier this year. They caught the scammer. Unbelievably, the same day it was announced they had been caught a new variant appeared. This one didn't even ask for money.
Another reported last week was phone spoofing where the caller uses the first 8 numbers of your own phone. I reported this to my provider back in March. The best the pillocks could come up with was a free change of phone number.

Re: SCAMMERS !
Alison; What a pity that you could not somehow hack that (expletive deleted) Clowns bitcoin wallet and either block his access to it or, even better, remove all bitcoins that may already be in it!
Errr.... you can't do it....can you?

Re: SCAMMERS !
Haven't had one of those bitcoin extortion emails for a while, but my system has rejected tens of thousands of them (I ran a script on the spam filter logfile once).

Re: SCAMMERS !
#1 son tells me staff on the check-outs at Morrisons now keep an eye out for elderly people buying i-Tunes gift cards and check that it is a genuine purchase and not because they have been scammed by the bastards impersonating HMRC. They have managed to persuade a number of customers not to buy the cards after the customers said they had been contacted by HMRC over unpaid tax. Good on Morrisons.

Re: SCAMMERS !
4ma, nice one. What's an iTunes gift card?
Actually I can guess but there are so many racks of cards, Sim cards, gift cards etc that I am now blind to them.
I have some in my wallet, one from Jksk as a damaged goods credit. I have cards from lots of retailers including Oldrids but some I don't know if they are just plastic and quite empty.

Re: SCAMMERS !
I think the answer is YES. There are lots of click bait ads embedded in other Web pages that feature well known personalities such a Piers Morgan or Dragon's Den who supposedly make thousands of $, often on 'live' TV, investing in bitcoin.
Oddly, I have only ever seen these on the click baut link and never actually live. Nor have I seen anything on MSM either confirming the message or stating it is a scam 1

Re: SCAMMERS !
I had two within few hours. A SMS poorly worded supposedly from a bank I rarely use offering a link to press and an unanswered call from Estonia - I suspect to call back an expensive line.
