Not sure what Sunday lunch will be. Will have to see what lies in the freezer and store cupboard. The sudden
isolation order caught us out. There enough to be had so we won't starve.

HF, I have to confess it was taken yesterday morning just before we started setting up the lock site for a celebratory bash marking the completion of the restoration project...didn't get round to posting it cos of....."tiredness".

Doggie play group this morning 10-11. Rain threatened but held off till lunch. 4pm went for another walk. Pleasantly warm in full sun. She went straight (following the paths) to where she found the hare yesterday and then sat, shooting the breeze and surveying the field. Sat perfectly still for 10 minutes.
No doubt they think and plan ahead.

We had a couple of Faraday's puppies from her first litter over for a pool party yesterday. Faraday refuses to swim, but her daughter likes it. So does Kepler, who was clearly showing off that she was better at swimming than any of them and demonstrated a surprising turn of speed when fetching balls thrown into the pool. I'd pick up a ball and get ready to throw and she would be swimming out in expectation. Here she is (in the foreground) with Lucy in the background.

In other news, there was an awful lot of loose dog fur collecting on the bottom of the pool last night.

Just been watching the volcano we all knew was coming, on Palma, GC. Burst out around 15:00 today. Very liquid lava and lots of it, villages and farms in the path. Over a thousand people evacuated, farm animals being moved. Palma airport closed.

We here are 35 miles from the volcanic zone of the Garrotxa, 3,500 years overdue for an erruption there...

Well what could have been a total wash out at the Duxford Battle of Britain Display, and which started in minimal VFR, turned into a wonderful display, culminating in a Bader Big Wing fly past comprising of 11 Spitfires and 4 Hurricanes, while Elgar played and the hairs on my arms stood up as John Romain flew another Spitfire in an exquisitely choregraphed routine as the joker.

One of the most affecting displays I have ever seen and one that left me with a lump in my throat to be honest!

I will bore you all with some of the photos!

I well remember a clearance at Duxford: "Clear number two to Spitfire xxx." It was quite normal. That was in the 90's.

It's wonderful that Spitfires are still in the circuit.

Just out of curiosity, does any one know how many flyable Spitfire's and Hurricanes there are in all parts of the world,seems to me that 75 Spitfire and
25 Hurricanes would be a fair guess.What say you?

A few years ago it was 11 flyable Hurricanes IIRC.

Wikipedia lists nine, plus four Sea Hurricanes, one of which was restored to airworthy condition since my recollection of 11, and there are several others listed as undergoing restoration.

I am glad folks enjoyed some of the photos...

This hurricane was just emerging chrysalis like from the maintenance workshops at Duxford, so hopefully that restoration number for hurricanes is now +1.

The other restored aircraft on display was the Sea King Helicopter which was the focus of a recent TV episode on aircraft restoration noted by C16 (along with the Whirlwind and the Wessex noted in photos above). All 3 helicopters set off back to Somerset after the display was over.

Another fine day, the wind has dropped so taking the ship out for a cruise. Heard just one hippo overnight not sure where he is now but think that it is our boy born out front so he should be OK with us.

We keep having early morning power cuts. Our battery has been in for repair for months and this standby one is not designed for this type of system. We are promised our battery back this week.
