Ah, vide. the perpertrators of the infamous La Bisbal Museum heist!OFSO wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 12:43 pmIn the real world:cruising down the fast road towards La Bisbal last week at just below the posted speed limit of 100kph, little traffic so a constant 90kph, two adults in car but a load of very heavy bronze sculptures in the back, fuel consumption showed at between 2.2 and 2.4 litres per 100 kms, or over 115 mpg. Diesel costs €1.09 a litre or well under a pound sterling.

The heist was the theft of Mrs OFSO's sculpture molds, thrown away by the foundry owner who went bust. The other foundries in this area, not to mention his former employees who never got paid, are furious with him.

Fliegs:
I have an 8 year old X3 with the 2L turbo. Had to have back to back $$$$ maintenance performed, one problem masked the other.
While killing time before an appointment went into the nearby Toyota dealership. I need a car for D#2 and possibly one for me.
Eye watering prices due to chip shortage for new and high demand for used. Three year old certified used Rav4's going for probably 10-20% above original new price.
My twenty year old $Runner with a cracked frame (240,000 miles) is about to go in to get the frame welded and back on the road.
Daughter will turn up her nose at driving it but that's her problem.
At least I will be able to tow and haul again and also get into the back country with the 4 wheel drive. Not looking forward to the lower MPG though.

I return briefly to the summer/winter league series tomorrow on the mighty Mersey near the ferries terminal.

Spitfire just flew over the house with a very rough sounding Merlin engine. Disappeared in a south easterly direction. I hope all is OK!
Clearly it is as he has just flown back at high speed and with the whine of a healthy Merlin.

I'm seeing more new Dacias than anything else down here. The new Duster has had excellent reviews for reliability. Where else can you get an automatic 4x4 SUV for under €20k. Their new electric car reviewed less good, but for £10,000 ?

My late sister's hairdresser had a Dacia duster which she said was was ok mechanically but rusted like the cars of old. Getting it sorted under warranty was very difficult , no interest whatsoever at first. When the dealer was told the customer was taking it to a consumer programme on the local tv show they fixed it quite quickly.

What's rust? OK, this is a warm dry country (apart from Right This Minute as a thunderstorm is over us) so rust, at least on cars, is rare. Paintwork attacks by sulphuric acid in the rain looks more likely..

Had to look that one up.
Looks good.
Only problem, not available here.

Thanks, Ricardian.
Awoke late here - 7am - clear skies. Dim recollection of flashes and rumbles in the night but looks dry out. First cuppas of char drunk.

Springe has arrived here. My dog walking park this morning. Right down the bottom end of Oz, just up from the Antarctic.

Our wind-out sun awnings are made of separate panels and the stitching has failed after about 18? years. Hard to restitch, but was thinking of applying adhesive to the canvas-type material along the seams.... Anybody any idea of what to use?
