HMQ goes dry
I think the words, 'We will drink what we wish to drink' comes to mind.
'Yes, Madam, I am drunk, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly.' Sir Winston Churchill.

(She) has allegedly been advised to forgo alcohol except for special occasions.

Not even gin? Mother's ruin! Her husband certainly had a dry sense of humour.

Re: HMQ goes dry
Just as a heads up, I entered the link in the first post into the TOR browser (it's a .onion link to a hidden site on the dark web) and it turns out to be a dark web site with lots of links to child pornography. Might be an idea to edit the first post to remove it, and for anyone that's tried to open it to clear their browser cache to try and remove any remnants that may remain. I suspect just having a copy of this link may be an offence in some jurisdictions.

She doesn't drink much, but her Scottish mother had hollow legs.TheGreenGoblin wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 6:56 pmNot even gin? Mother's ruin! Her husband certainly had a dry sense of humour.
Gin and Vermouth, I seem to recall from my time when I lived betwixt Balmoral and Birkhall.
Jayzuz Kristos! That wee crooked necked wummun could drink! Faack!
Never saw or drank with Shaggy Maggie, but I heard that she could could tuck away a few too.

The Queen is all we have at the moment (and I am not even a Royalist at heart)...

I took and expressed that oath.
When I resigned my Commission I relieved myself of, though not actually upon, that absurdity, particularly the bit about heirs and successors.

'Tis said that when in the Navy, the heir & successor was able to put away a fair amount, and turn up none the worse for wear at sparrow-fart the next morning.

I was told, by Cabin Crew who had "served" her, that tho' she proudly proclaimed that she flew "Economy" to save the taxpayer money, she insisted on a row of seats to herself and insisted on the adjacent fore and aft rows be kept empty, and insisted on free Gin from the First Class bar.Never saw or drank with Shaggy Maggie, but I heard that she could could tuck away a few too.
I couldn't possibly comment

Once had Sir Denis on the flight deck at about 16.00 with a scotch because he had been told down the back to have a 'nice cup of tea'. Then he spilt it down his tie and announced that he would be in trouble.

See what happens when you go off the grog. She's in hospital now. Why would you break a habit that's seen you fit and working into your '90s?

Re: HMQ goes dry
I guess the military and the meeja are dusting down and rehearsing the procedure for the London Bridge is down signal. Just in case.
An increasing rapidity of the health stories about the wee wumman may perhaps be more than mere happenstance. For a politically significant final visit to Northern Ireland to be cancelled was a signal. Subsequent admission to hospital was another.
Nominally the average life expectancy of a woman of her age in the UK is three years. Let's hope she fulfills that, and more. I don't think the London Stock Market could stand the shock of having Wingnut being given the 'job' this year or next.

Yeah, after that long married, one going after the other is not uncommon. NOT a disrespectful comment, but something I think not unusual.

Re: HMQ goes dry
I remember being told by a mercenary financial advisor that the average life expectancy of an admittee to a nursing home was 3½ years. It falls to 1½ years after the spouse in the same nursing home croaks.
Buck House isn't at all average and Frau Wossername isn't at all of the same stock of yer average Brit; and most certainly isn't subject to the uncertain vicissitudes of the vagaries of her adopted nation's NHS, but she is a bit human, despite her undoubted membership of the über race.
A bit of pointing in the cracks of the stonework of the eponymous bridge in Londium might be appropriate so as to fend off Wingnut and that godawful bruvver of his.

Re: HMQ goes dry
I reckon after her latest bout of engagements, she sat down in her comfy chair, kicked her shoes off and said to her lady-in-waiting something akin to 'Geezzuschryst, ah'm knackered. I'm taking a coupla days orf. Susan, do get me a Dubonnet please...and make it a big one." Cue all the meeja hype.
