tango15, knowing the highway route from Athens to Thessaloniki (LGTS) particularly the southernmost segment and back I feel Volos provides an excellent stop-over place. As a matter of fact I would try to find a reason to stop there particularly the small tavernas by the seafront.
OFSO, stay with the band 4 as long as you can, I connected the band 6 and I feel there are too much functions most of then not to easy to use. It is comfortable to wear though just like the 4.
I had a nice today with a coffee at an open air cafe.

Mince and tatties tonight - very welcome on this cold night. SSEN have just updated when they think the site that supplies our wireless internet will be back online….. tomorrow night at 2200, three and a half days since the storm hit. So lucky not to have lost our electricity at all…..

Groundgripper... I had the same issue with the winter fuel allowance when my sister died. I telephoned the revenue to tell them she had died and they said that as long as she was alive in the third week in September which was when they decide who was to be paid she was entitled to the money. They just said keep the money and add it to her estate!

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Senior daughter's car wouldn't start yesterday so she called the breakdown man who duly attended. After attaching a battery charger, the car still wouldn't start; wouldn't even turn over so he diagnosed a replacement starter motor (££££s many) was required. Told senior daughter he would tow the car to a garage on Monday morning. Senior daughter currently working from home, so not duly worried about a drive to work.
Breakdown man phoned her this morning to advise her that his battery charger had a fault and could he revisit today with another charger. Duly arrived, attached charger and car fired up first time. He recommended she take the car for a long drive, have the battery checked and if need be, change the battery - cue huge sigh of relief from senior daughter. Senior daughter decided to drive to our house and make a surprise visit - just happened to arrive as the roast chicken was being put into the oven!! Took her to the local Halfords who diagnosed a failed cell, so she got a new battery as well as a mum-cooked Sunday roast. A happy senior daughter has returned to her place in Louth where she is currently watching the snow fall.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
I had a failed starter motor on my current car. Bought a new one and fitted it myself after watching a YouTube video on the subject (good way to assess the difficulty level). All was fine apart from forgetting to reconnect the radiator fan. In a traffic jam a few days later and noticed a bit of steam, knew immediately what the problem was and so just opened the windows and turned the heater and fan up to max to extract the heat that way. It was good enough to get me home, at which point I let it cool down, reconnected the radiator fan and checked the coolant level. Oops.

Thanks for that explanation DC, I'll let the solicitor who's orchestrating this know. We seem to have reached the happy stage that everyone wants to pay us. I bet it doesn't last.

Morning folks.
12c here and a clear blue sky. Some say a high of 18c is possible.
Seem to have been fortunate in the timing of my trip to UK last week.
It appears we had a quake last night.

-5.8°C overnight. -2.6° right now. No further precip and none forecast for the day.
Glad to have winter tyres on the car. They make a tremendous difference in this sort of wx.
The heat pump is working its socks off to get some heat into the walls.

OAT -2 at 0630, fortunately due to management incompetence I’ve not been cleared to drive on the ramp, so I have to stay in the nice warm baggage hall
When all else fails, read the instructions.

Morning folks. Only about 37C here. We are awaiting a letter from the Chief to say that we are good eggs for our residency renewal. Just had a phone call from him. The central Chief's office in town with THE computer has no power. You would think that each Chief would be given a computer and printer.
When I joined up in 1978. They gave me my uniform allowance twice. It was £1,000. I of course never mentioned it. They will have to find me now if they want it back.

Wodders, hope SM can find some competent medical help this time. Is this still from the wound that wouldn't heal?

More or less, the incision has mostly healed, there is still a small hole, but now the infection has gone it will heal in time.
She still has a small hernia however which is giving her bowel problems, that is why we are going.

All the very best to SM, Wodders. Hope it gets sorted quickly.
-4°C overnight and still -1°C at present. Had an appointment at the Transplant clinic
at 08:30 this morning. Quite a pleasant drive up the M1 surrounded by snow scenes while the road itself was
beautifully clear and dry. Next trip to the hospital is tomorrow afternoon for the ureteral stent removal.
It will be the first time in 7 months that my body will be devoid of any *foreign material lodged in it somewhere.
Yippee, say I.
* Bily doesn't count; he's family.

No fillings, then? I've got titanium straps where my gallbladder used to be. They don't provide gastric juices, though.

Sorry to hear that Wodders. Your good lady has suffered enough.
Do you get to keep the bits and pieces as souvenirs HF? Hang them on the Christmas tree maybe.
Tiz a bit too warm here but breezy.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Yes, I agree RiS. However, there was little to commend it on this particular occasion. To be fair though, I have been there in the summer, and it is as you describe. One of the ladies who worked in the office was from Volos and on one occasion I arranged to be there at the same time as her and was treated like a king.Rwy in Sight wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 7:24 pmtango15, knowing the highway route from Athens to Thessaloniki (LGTS) particularly the southernmost segment and back I feel Volos provides an excellent stop-over place. She has, we have a written complaint lodged with the head of surgery, completely NFI. But now we have the complaint registered we can escalate it.
We have a Gestoria on the case.
We don't want anything, although it would be nice, just an apology that would be a start.
