Re: Chaos in USA
It's a perpetual problem for the US that their ill-considered constitution deliberately created a heavily politicised justiciary at the highest level. It was inevitable that political appointees will usually do the bidding of whichever partisan side gave them a job for life. That's a human nature thing.
The hasty scribblings on a napkin that were the original constitution lacked clarity of thought and showed a spectacular lack of foresight and practically doomed America to endless injustices. They unthinkingly joined the judicial branch and the executive branches at the neck. Other than by impeachment, which is extremely rare for either Supremes or Presidents, the legislative branch is too often manacled to the Emperor.

As always Plum, you express your dislike of the USA.
Which country do you consider to be the best constituted, best governed and best integrated into world affairs?

Re: Chaos in USA
I admit to being pleasantly surprised that Kavanaugh voted the way he did a few times, so there's hope that he will settle in and do it by the book. ?I know there have been others in the past who were supposedly appointed based on their political leanings and subsequently turned out to be very centred in their judgements, having put those political leanings aside while at work. Still not convinced about Barrett, and the manner of her appointment will always cast a cloud over her time in office.boing wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 11:19 pmThe problem for the Supreme Court is the continuous media discussion about how votes are expected to go based on the individual politics of the members. This conjecture has firmly convinced the public that the court is definitely politically divided whether the members are capable of disregarding their political leanings in favour of the law or not. The situation is not helped by the labeling of everyone being considered for the court with a political label and that even politicians talk about the candidates' politics as if it was their most important qualification.

I don't know where Biden is going to get the gas, that he has promised to the EU,from because he will not permit increased US gas production.
Clearly he is also physically struggling with his EU trip as he looks more and more to shuffle about as geriatrics do as they age.

Putting doddery old men in the White House might be passable in peacetime.
In Wartime, not so much.
That walk of his makes him look positively geriatric, not so say physically handicapped.

" A Colorado jury on Friday awarded a $14 million judgment to 12 protesters after finding Denver police officers violated their constitutional rights amid chaotic demonstrations in 2020 over police brutality and racial injustice.
Jurors found Denver violated the First and Fourth Amendment rights of protesters, who claimed police officers injured them during the gatherings that were sparked by the death of George Floyd, the Denver Post reported. They heard testimony about the alleged failure of police to coordinate during the law enforcement response during the three-week civil trial."

Re: Chaos in USA
FDR wasn't very nimble on his feet, was he? Nevertheless, he was arguably the best President the US ever had.
I'm trying very hard to think of a US President in the 20th and 21st centuries who wasn't a Wartime President. Any ideas? Was he a tapdancer or something?

Biden's trip to Europe was supposed to make him look like a world leader and boost his failing popularity but recent polls are now showing at less than 35% approve of him.He continues to blunder almost every day with issues like this:-
WHITE HOUSE Published March 25, 2022 2:31pm EDT
White House insists US troops not going to Ukraine after Biden comments in Poland
Biden told US troops, 'You're going to see when you're there' Ukrainian citizens standing up against Russia.
The White House on Friday insisted the U.S. military will not be deployed to Ukraine amid Russia’s multifront war on the country after comments President Biden made to troops in Poland seemed to suggest otherwise.
Biden, visiting U.S. service members in Poland, talked about how average Ukrainian citizens are "stepping up."
"You’re going to see when you’re there – some of you have been there – you’re going to see women, young people, standing in the middle, in front of a damn tank, saying, ‘I’m not leaving.'"

Re: Chaos in USA
Not quite the most inspiring thing that a C-in-C could have said to his troops as a wartime leader up against the world's geographically largest country which hasn't lost a defensive war from the West (or from the East) since 1856, but if that's the best he can do - then so be it.Seenenough wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 2:16 pm

Who from the West ,other than Germany and the Axis ,has tried to invade Russia Plum?
The press are telling us that Biden is going to be making some sort of major speech later today-Lets see if he can say anything that makes any sense to anyone.
Re: Chaos in USA
Plum ,I did not ask who threatens Russia I asked who has invaded Russia, other than Adolf and his cronies.Undried Plum wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 4:18 pmOnly NATO. Nobody else. Much
Who else would want to threaten Russia?
Who else other than NATO would push military force right up to the very border of Russia in Europe?

Ask the SurrenderMonkeys that question.Seenenough wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 4:27 pmI asked who has invaded Russia, other than Adolf and his cronies.
Then look at how many countries NATO pushed into, after promising that they would not push "one inch", Eastwards beyond the agreed unification of Germany.
Only Ukraine and Georgia remain as targets.
Meanwhile, there will be the strangulation of Russia by the oldest form of warfare. Economic siege warfare.

Is it NATO's declared intention to invade Russia?

And there you go -White House clean up team has to come out again
JOE BIDEN Published March 26, 2022 2:37pm EDT
Biden says Putin ‘cannot remain in power’ as he assures Ukraine: ‘We stand with you’
'For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power,' Biden said during a speech from Warsaw, Poland
It appeared to be the first time Biden has explicitly called for Putin’s removal and would mark a sharp contrast from prior statements from the White House, which have emphasized that regime change in Russia is not the policy of the United States.
Shortly after Biden's address however, the White House denied that Biden was calling for regime change.
"The President’s point was that Putin cannot be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors or the region. He was not discussing Putin’s power in Russia, or regime change," a White House official told Fox News Digital shortly after the speech concluded.

Re: Chaos in USA
No. There was a little affair in the Crimean War fought from October 1853 to February 1856 in which Russia lost to an alliance of France, the Ottoman Empire, the United Kingdom and Piedmont-Sardinia.Seenenough wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 4:48 pmI asked who has invaded Russia, other than Adolf and his cronies.
So the only time Russia had to defend its land was when Hitler invaded.
Then the Japanese kicked off in 1904.in
And when I first saw the protagonists after the Russian Revolution I admit to being surprised :
Allied Powers: White Movement Czechoslovakia United Kingdom Canada Australia India South Africa United States France Japan Greece Estonia Serbia Italy Romania
Bolsheviks: Russian SFSR Far Eastern Republic Latvian SSR Ukrainian SSR
Then John Mearsheimer argued in 2015 that NATO expansionism created the present situation. I would argue that the creation of NATO in 1949, in 1955 the METO/CENTO, and in 1954 were all intended to envelop the USSR.
These treaty organisations were preceded by a US Chiefs of Staff War Plan, Plan Dropshot, which predicated war with Russia in 1957 and even considered pre emotive nuclear attack before Russia gained nuclear weapons.
I think that the 'Atom Spies', Klaus Fuchs, Bruno Pontecorvo, and Allan Nunn May possibly contributed to nuclear stalemate by assisting the USSR and thwarting a US monopoly.
It is possible to see that the Soviets indeed had cause to believe the World and later the USA was against them.

Don't forget the 'adventures' of the Czechoslovak Legion. Worth looking up if you do not know about them.
