Wot's for Tea, Ma?
Re: Wot's for Tea, Ma?
Re my post 2955, I have just reread it.
I meant to write that my wife grows herbs in "bots".
Being Finnish, she often confuses "p" and "b", as in "I walked up the bath and washed in the path".
B is a rarely used letter in Finnish, makes for interesting shopping lists.

As an infant at primary school (we lived in a rural agricultural village with a two-class school with just 26 pupils spread over two 'tables') my daughter confused 'b' and 'd' - a form of dyslexia.

Re: Wot's for Tea, Ma?
Yesterday, Passion Sunday, had the traditional pea soup. This is an old recipe that needs forward planning, so soaked the dried peas overnight from Saturday, + about two-and-a-half hours' cooking on Sunday.

Re: Wot's for Tea, Ma?
The vicar of our last parish in Scarborough (Yorks) hailed from Middlesbrough and his wife always supplied a pan of Carlin peas with plastic cups & forks and a vinegar jar for the congregation after the morning service on Palm Sunday. My late wife thought they were disgusting but I loved 'em!

Earlyish lunch: a hoosh-mi or pilaf of sautéed rice, onion, garlic, sliced almonds; stock, a little mustard, a 70g tin of kidney beans with chili and olive oil, courgette, red and green peppers; with chopped fresh parsley, chives and tomato added.
I'd forgotten about the chili in the beans so was pleased I had not added pepper, and it didn't seem to need salt, being quite tasty as was.

Re: Wot's for Tea, Ma?
(At last - a recipe that even I can follow)
Gracie Allen's Classic Recipe for Roast Beef:
Set the oven to 220C/428F.
Take 1 large roast of beef and 1 small roast of beef.
Place them in the oven.
When the little roast catches fire the big roast is done.

Re: Wot's for Tea, Ma?
I could not be bothered cooking tonight ( poor planning ) So a large healthy kebab it was, with oodles of very hot chilli sauce. This meant that a number of bottles of 7.8% ABV Aspalls were swallowed.
