Windows10 update issue

#1 Post by Boac » Sat Jun 18, 2022 8:10 am

One of the 3 W10 machines had developed a problem with updating. It constantly tells me I am 'missing' important updates but fails to retrieve any. The issue appears to be happening to others too.

None of the normal steps work
Troubleshooter cannot identify the problem
Deletion of update directory did not fix
Restore did not fix
dsim restore health and sfc scannow 'found issues and corrected' but no change

Anyone else experiencing this? M$ are not coming up with any answers.

I never even noticed, my machine did it's update on Thursday, nothing noticed.
Mine is a new install of 10 not an update from a previous version of Windows which have never been installed.

You must have been in a time warp! 21H2 was released in May 2021 and is supported until December 2022...............................

The update issue is bizarre. It constantly shows me 'You are missing important security and quality fixes' but no updates are available when I check, but if I uninstall an update (I chose an Office one) it then displays and downloads/installs that update. Weird.

Took a while to find the update.
Usually Windoz pops up a window and sez that an update is available.
I went poking around and was unable to find anything.
Google finally pointed me to Microsoft and after three or four attempts I found the right one for my system.
It took me almost as long to find all of the tabs that I had left open, intending to read or watch later, as it did for the update to install.
