Re: Rant of the Day v2.
What the heck has happened to Trip Advisor? Tried to write a review this evening, totally unuseable. Won't accept the town I entered or the fact that's its a first review of a previously unlisted place. Has some ghsstly mega-empire purchased TA ? Gave up.

Don't know for sure, but have heard many rumblings about that site. Seems that like web MD or a search engine G---gle it has been transformed from a useful tool to garbage.
Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment.

But it’s dry heat, or so they say for AZ, so it’s all good.PHXPhlyer wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 10:20 pmPatio thermometer registering 105oF in the shade.
A/C unit registering 110oF.
WX station shows 114oF.
I don't know which is worse...The feeling of the heat striking you the instant that you go out or the thought of the A/C running 24/7 with attendant electric bill.
Set point on thermostat set at 80oF with ceiling fans running on high.
Overnight lows down to the mid 80s.

Because they stand on the wall and say "nothing's gonna hurt you tonight, not on my watch".

The start of the Monsoon used to be defined by 3 consecutive days with a dewpoint above 55oF.
Now it it is date defined (June 1st).
55oF is the dewpoint that, at or above, swamp coolers (evaporative coolers) will no longer be effective.
Most older houses have both swamp coolers and A/C. Swamp coolers are much less expensive to run than A/C. The only electric draw is a 1/2 to 1 HP motor to run a squirrel cage blower and a small pump to spray water over the pads.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
Wimbledon over ran last night, can't stand Murray, so flipped through the TV channels and ended up watching one of those "fly on the wall" police programmes. Colour me gobsmacked, as only one person they arrested (a chap that had kicked a bus shelter) got sentenced. A chap they arrested, caught red-handed growing £30k worth of cannabis in his house, was released with "no further action". Another chap they arrested with loads of cash hidden under the carpets of his car, bags of crack cocaine, no driving licence or road tax, again got off scot free.
Is it any wonder that criminals feel free to do as they wish when we have a system that seems to let them get off, even when there seems to be a mountain of evidence (around 40 bin bags full from the cannabis farm)?

Two months to get an appointment with the police to apply for residency (but appointment confirmed). Four months to exchange of contracts on flat. My trustee says I'm lucky. He agreed in January, his exchange is next month.
Re: Rant of the Day v2.
I am being continually bombarded with phone calls and text messages from people wanting to buy my house.
Every time, I give them my conditions for a sell:
1. My price: $25-50,000 over current estimated value.
2. All cash.
3. As is.
Every time they ask if they can make me an offer; I tell them "No. You have heard what I will accept and my conditions".
It simply doesn't sink in with them.

Oooh, you are awful (but I like you).
Re: Rant of the Day v2.
I'd probably just look at what Zillow thinks this is worth, add a million and give them that price as-is.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
Buying a flat. Vendor and estate agent stated ground rent had not changed since building constructed in 2008 and it was £300 pa. My solicitor, much trouble to get ground rent statement from landlord (estate agent) finally finds both statements are.lies: ground rent has increased every five years and is now £450 pa. Parties informed my offer being reconsidered.

'Cheap' readers.
About a year ago I was taken to hospital by ambulance following a fall at home.
Without reading spectacles I needed replacements from the hospital shop - £12!.
To be fair they had glass lenses and were robust (though slender) and proved to be durable, though eventually died (or were lost) after many months.
Since then I have been buying from the local discount store @ £2.99 but they only last three or four weeks before they fall apart!

Mr Awkward on his mobility scooter riding down the middle of a Louth town centre road holding up cars, buses, vans et al. Not content with doing that he repeatedly went back and forth across a zebra crossing at a snail's pace. Much frustration vented at him by passing motorists.

Sitting in a police car checking "speeding" motorists, no doubt.

We had one such in God's Waiting Room (Woodhall Spa).
Handily designed so most journies could be completed with right hand turns .
Also thoughtfully provided with white lines down the centre of the road. Weave down road in your cart, intersect white line and follow home.

#6211 A reduction in price was offered and instantly accepted. Estate Agent once again dodges charges of fraud.
(Is it possible to charge an estate agent with fraud? I'd have thought it part of the job description.)

Agreed, I have a few million pairs around the house and garage, all with "repaired" sidepieces that will no longer close, but .... at $2 Shop prices I'm still ahead.Since then I have been buying from the local discount store @ £2.99 but they only last three or four weeks before they fall apart!
