Used to call it that in the 70s, old terminal. Went over at night to deal with the Budgie. No facilities so we worked from the ticket office.
One of our number, after a tour of the terminal, came running back to the office "Lads come and look what I've found"
Tommy Cooper !
Who had had a drop ..........
Turned it on with an audience though.

Wet, dull and cool.
I have spent most of the day assembling and using my new welder.
I now have a repaired mower deck for my lawn tractor.
The repair isn't pretty but appears strong.
Cost of welder and all gear less than half the price of a replacement used mower deck.
Which, frankly, is ridiculous.

More weeding in the garden - t'was a short job that took about 20 minutes. Then orf to the garden centre - me acers keep dying on me but only the purple one's. Asked a man what knows at the garden centre as to what could be causing the failures - he didn't know. Bought a jar of sweet onion relish instead.
Water claims more victims - two deaths at a nature reserve and a young lad gone missing in Gainsborough - thought to have gone into the river. Policeman on the news was very emotional and struggled to maintain his composure - normally they are very controlled whilst talking to the media.

I find they can be quite delicate, sensitive to exposure to wind, frost when they are young, over-watering, under-watering, etc.4mastacker wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 7:13 pm... me acers keep dying on me but only the purple one's. ...

A question for the Oracle (probably Woody), I have to take my wife to LHR T5 next Wednesday afternoon on her way to Düsseldorf, I will have to accompany her as far as check in/ security, what is the best (cheapest) place to park for the time it will take.
I looked at the LHR website and they want £78 for an hour in the short stay!

Thanks, fully recovered now. It happens from time to time, often for no apparent reason. My diabetes nurse is very understanding. As she said "If you were 18 yrs old I'd be nagging you to diet and exercise much more. However, you're 80 yrs old and want to enjoy your life!"

k3 k3, I went to T5 in August last year to pick up junior daughter. I didn't pre-book and parked up in the multi-storey adjacent to the terminal. I think I was in there about two hours and it cost no more than £15 - the web-site says short-term parking starts at £6 for 30 minutes.

Out and about this blusterous day, leaves being whirled everywhere in the gusts.
A lot of cloud and high overcast, some sun, 15.4°C at the moment.
Passed an Indian restaurant which smelled very aromatic, and thought, next time DD1 suggests lunch we must go there.
Half an hour later a surprise encounter with DD1 in a store so we did just that.

Another sunny day dawns. Back to the hospital for an ultrasound. It's a fast trip on train and metro.

4ma and Woody, that is a relief, can you let me know how it is signposted?
Here is the link that tells me if I pre-book the short stay car park for next Wednesday 13:00 to 14:00 it costs £78.

Drove back from D2's place on the north coast today, a normal drive, until after lunch I hit a serious thunderstorm north of Newcastle. No big deal, just drive a bit slower, but that message hasn't got through to the idiots who insist on driving and tail-gating at ridiculous speeds, with inevitable results - miles of crawling traffic as a result of accidents.

Good morning,
19c light overcast, 24c from the tealeaves.
The Fang Fettler has just changed my 12.00 to 16.15, no matter think it's just an inspection of prep for implants.
Don't understand but the ITV sticker is for 16 months, must check the paperwork.

Do they put it on the windscteen themselves or just hand it to you? I always book my inspection at the end of each period for the first month of the next period, thus gaining a year every 12 inspections.!

They just stuff it through the window with all the other stuff.

Morning folks. Night jar singing away at dawn. Nice day. There was a cold wind. Should make low 30s. Run through the bush to the pub at lunchtime. Just topped up the steering fluid, water and fuel in small car for the mission. The steering fluid is leaking. We do very little milage in it and mechanic said very expensive fix, steering fluid is not. I think that I managed to put it in the right place this time.

Here's a link.
T5 short stay parking.
Scroll down the page and click on "How much is Terminal 5 Short Stay parking?" The page also includes advice on how to get there. There are also some video clips on Yootoob on how to get to the car park from the M25. I found them very useful -it meant I was familiar with the route into the car park before I set off from home even though I had never been to T5 before.

Thanks again, it means I can take her all the way to security without worrying that the car park fees would bankrupt me.

A friend who is knowledgeable in these matters recommends these books by David Hill, apparently they pull no punches on crash investigations by the RAF.
