^ wishing you easy healing, Hydromet.
Rather a nice day here today, sunny, at one point was 23°C within and without.
High cloud increasing now and fresh to strong northerly winds forecast for tomorrow.
I have a scarlet tulip out in flower.

G'day all.
nearly 26c, scattered, 27c from the seaweed which may well exceed.
Predictions of doom have been degraded from the official guess.
Off for provisions.
Gardener here before visiting UK. he has hinted that he might not be back. SM is distraught.
19th AM.
"Your score: 14 / 15 NZ song ? banned ?
Great work. Try for 100 per cent tomorrow."

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
I'm not even going to mention my latest Quiz score!
Am due for Chiropractor visit tomorrow. Cannot come too soon either! Developed a pinched nerve in my lower back around last Saturday which causes sudden, but mercifully brief, agonising spasms of pain just above hip line if I make 'the wrong move.'
Last had this happen about four years ago. Just a residual side effect of the injuries I received in the prang I had 31 years ago!
Quite simply, you do not break your back (literally) and get off scot free!!!

I always think of this whenever I see Orion:
My father returned home from Europe on the RMS Orion
Sixty years later I was to learn from someone who had also been on that voyage that it was a calm moonlight night as they sailed past the Canterbury coast of NZ - helped me to more clearly imagine how it must have been as they came within sight of home.
My father kept the menu from the final night aboard:

10/15,not bad mainly guesswork. Remember seeing RMS Orion in the Red Sea once, a great feeling when the homeland comes in sight when you are on your way home from sea.
Mrs 1DC apologised for bawling me out when I got up today but said she would like me to smarten myself up so I will.Bought a new printer but can't get my computer to find it by wireless, it had identified it as a model but can't find it to print. Will have to find someone who knows!
Had a fair gale of wind on the Humber, the forecast rain didn't arrive, only 11C with the wind chill although it did warm up in the afternoon.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
I am sure there is a conspiracy between computers and printers. I have been having the same problem, which is not yet fully resolved. As I headed south on the A1 this afternoon, waiting for heavily-laden lorries to very slowly overtake each other whilst going uphill (why do they always set out to overtake on hills?), I noticed that high-sided vehicles were being warned not to use the Humber bridge.1DC wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 8:57 pm10/15,not bad mainly guesswork. Earthquake!
edit to add, palpitating: https://www.geonet.org.nz/earthquake/2023p707798
further edit: Oh yuck. Had enough of those. The Magnitude value was initially 5.8, now assessed at 6.4. Strong.
Waiting for DD1 to check in. DD2 didn't notice it.
Better have a look around and see what if anything fell over.

Having the same issue with both the inkjet and laser printer since switching to 5G internet and WiFi combo.
Fortunately I was able to connect them via USB to USB A with an extension USB cable.
The manual says that a wireless connection can be established with the aid of the wired connection, however no joy so far.
Good luck resolving your issue.

Oh dear, she's losing it now.
DD1 felt it strongly.
Thing is, was it a fore-shock...

Sorry PHX, I was being silly in the heat of the moment.
Had a look around, one little ornament had fallen over and all the pictures on the wall have swung away from the epicentre.
Made a report on GeoNet, reported it as 'moderate'.
There will no doubt be a Mag.5 aftershock to come.
If that wasn't a fore-shock...

Good morning all, 11/15.
Currently 26C, forecast Max 34C. Quite windy this morning and my fire watch app has already advised of two fires (both extinguished) within 10km. Vege garden watered early.
Karearea, hope there are no follow-up shocks for you.
