BREXIT - A Poll & Discussion
Re: BREXIT - A Poll & Discussion
I am alarmed at the 'forecast' of port disruption by Gove (who said little would change?). The relaxation of the EU ban on neonicotinoid thiamethoxam, ostensibly for 'emergency use', is worrying and needs careful monitoring. This relaxation is supposedly for 'beet' crops only, and DEFRA has said
“Pesticides can only be used where we judge there to be no harm to human health and animal health, and no unacceptable risks to the environment. The temporary use of this product is strictly limited to a non-flowering crop and will be tightly controlled to minimise any potential risk to pollinators.”
In the final line of its background statement, Defra added: “Protecting pollinators is a priority for this government.”

The Lincolnshire beet fields tend to be in the fens which are well drained and flow into The Wash marine reserve so that's OK then.

boac quoted: “In the final line of its background statement, Defra added: “Protecting pollinators is a priority for this government.”
That was very likely a typo error and should have read:
“Protecting pollutors is a priority for this government.”

Do we have an up-to-date report of the progress of commercial maritime traffic across the channel? Been all over Giggle and cannot find anything.

So Ribrash are you catching happier fish
Tory Brexiteer Mr Rees-Mogg said: 'What is happening is that the Government is tackling this issue, dealing with it as quickly as possible, and the key thing is we've got our fish back.
'They're now British fish and they're better and happier fish for it.'
At this the Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle intervened and noted: 'Obviously there's no overwhelming evidence for that.'
When all else fails, read the instructions.

I'm hoping the first instalment of £350 million for the NHS isn't stuck at Calais?

GB Stickers on Cars Verboten in the EU
From 28th September UK registered cars driving in the EU must show a UK sticker or number plate identifier instead of GB, the EU flag symbol is also not permitted.

What is the penalty for not displaying the UK sticker?
Can they seize and crush the vehicle?

Re: BREXIT - A Poll & Discussion
Who decided that a UK, rather than a GB, sticker is required? It's always been a GB sticker from way before they tried harmonising everything.
Re: BREXIT - A Poll & Discussion
the United Kingdom is changing the distinguishing sign that it had previously selected for display in international traffic on vehicles registered in the United Kingdom, from ‘GB’ to ‘UK’.
A spokesman for the British Department for Transport said: “Changing the national identifier from GB to UK symbolises our unity as a nation and is part of a wider move towards using the UK signifier across government.

OK, I had a look. The UK used UK until 1922 and then switched to GB. I wonder if that was due to the Irish independence?

Oooh dear Gawd, I was under the impression the great unwashed radical unthinking British voters had voted to leave the EUropean branch of the WEF in an ultimately frustrated ambition to have some degree of self-determination and sovereignty.
Now I am informed by some obscure Uni Prof, who’s trying to cement his career, that it was all due to the perfidious BBC producing certain comedy shows back in the last millenium;

What sweet relief it was not actually due to an inherent wish to throw off the shackles of the EUropean superstate but thanks to some evening TV sitcoms which obviously pickled our brains and programmed us all more effectively than any East Berlin Stasi-style brainwashing.
Now I may sleep easy with a clear conscience knowing it wasn’t my fault Russia invaded Ukraine, the NHS is in terminal crisis and I am responsible for the barbecuing of the runway at (RAF) Coningsby.

Well nowc there isn't any comedy any more on BBC TV* we will all return to being pro-Europe, no doubt.
* Other that the comedy provided by our rulers in Parliament and recently out of it.
