Good morning, sunny day, a magpie warbling beautiful arpeggios somewhere close by.
16°C going for 19°C, they say.
edit to add: 1:11 YT clip of magpie warblings
The one I could hear had no screechy notes, just the liquid warble.

When I played your clip it set one of the locals going. We have a family that we feed, although they usually spend their time feeding in the local gardens. We've fed generations of the same family and they're quite tame. They've just introduced the latest youngster.
They're quite good mimics. The male has included in his song the sound of someone whistling and a dog barking, and someone (probably Mrs Hydro) saying "Hullo".

Morning folks. Not a bad day rain forecast.

Morning all. 11° and clear(ish) out. Black wash day, machine churning away on floor below. Gym today, then eye scan at doctor. Last time I went cost €25 as Dr is heavily subsidised by his opticians practice.

Morning All,
It says 17c Seaweed 23c, scattered, blowing a hoolie gusting 45km/h.
Some fencing damage visible.
Cladding bloke no show, third day, don't blame him in this, he would be taking the full force where he has to work.

Max wind gust yesterday, round the corner on the cape, was only 95kph. We had very much less, as evidenced by all the dead leaves clinging on to branches. We need a good blow.

Chucking it down here..it's filling up me canal. In fact, it filled up one section just a tad too much causing the water to over-top the bank on both sides. We needed to release water through the locks to get the level down. Over-topping is dangerous as the water flow starts eroding the hinterland of the bank raising the possibility of a breach which causes big (and expensive) problems.

AS miserable as miserable can be on the Humber, almost monsoonal. Forecast to stop and show the sun after lunch, hopefully it will be accurate cos we have to go into town. Mrs 1DC was close to a hypo this morning, very unusual and she hasn't done anything out of the ordinary so we is scratching our heads over it.?

The failure mode of overtopping is something that starts insidiously with little initial effect but can develop into a disaster as the overflow gains momentum.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Sorry to hear of Punto's passing Wodrick.
Back now after an horrendous five days in UK when it came to travel. Started with farting about by assistance staff at Gatwick meant I missed my train by 4 minutes and then Southern Rail cancelled my assistance as a "no show" and didn't transfer it to next train. However next train was subject to diversions and with changes, as original train was sent to Bognor, it took four hours to get to Southampton, via Hove. Shoulder wrenched as a result of lugging baggage and having to stand and lurch about.
Also managed to smash up hire car on Monday afternoon having to avoid a ranchero in a Jap style pick up, who came out of the low sun and was not stopping for anyone. Swerved and took out sides of two parked cars. No injury fortunately.

Interesting day yesterday. Trip to the vet with Kepler for her ultrasound scan, looks like we'll be getting puppies for Christmas, estimated due date the 24th.
Then around 9:30pm my wife messaged me from upstairs that there was a problem and could I come up, which set off a chain of events that resulted in Cosmo, our Maine Coon cat, spending the night at said vet (we got home around 2am, having left him there) with an unknown problem. The vet called around 7:15 this morning to update us on his condition. His original symptoms were a definite wheezing to his breathing, a bit of fever and he had his mouth open with his tongue out. Sometime not long after we left, his tongue swelled up and they had to give him steroids, which fortunately reduced the swelling. Current theory is that he got a chemical burn, tried chewing an electrical cable, or got bitten on the tongue by a spider or insect. They're hoping the swelling will go down enough that they can get a better look at his tongue this morning. So, probably $3000 down so far on the evening.
To add to the lack of sleep, Faraday woke me sometime after 4am, so hopefully I'll get through the day and Cosmo will come home. At least I get a couple of days off work Thu/Fri.

Yup, the please of owning animals. Vets bill here in Catalunia at Dr Gomes would probably have been under €100 (never paid more including for stitching up Buster after Mink Attack) but you don't want to know that. Get well soon, Cosmo!

Morning, all. Not to be racist, but it's White Wash Day. 14° out. Taking sore gum to the dentist this morning, see if there's a time slot for me.

The local on-line newspaper The Orkney News has been organising interviews with various folk in Orkney who have contributed to the local community through their work which may be for art, music, film, communications, tradition, mental health, and wellbeing. A couple of months ago I was interviewed in my capacity as editor of the Stronsay Limpet and the result has now been published online, I hope that it encourages a few folk to consider Stronsay for a holiday in the future. Fiona & Martin have done an amazing job of editing a couple of hours of interview down to about 10 minutes.
