Paxos? - Haven't been there for 45 years but it triggered a memory....

I will suggest not Greece, maybe Albania or Roumania.
I have been to neither.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
You could be forgiven fo thinking that it's Greece, but in fact, it's a wee bit further east - and north.
Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
May I suggest Bulgaria although Ukraine also fits your clue.

Total guess.
The seafront at Yalta has white buildings and similar lamps.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
It does, but Yalta's much bigger; but not too far away is this port whose name gave rise to an item of clothing.

Balaclava?
Springs to mind or it will be too short.

Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Balaclava it is! Apparently a strong wind used to blow down the estuary in the winter during the Crimean War and the troops complained about being cold. So back home in Blighty, the ladies got busy with their knitting needles, and the balaclava was created. There was also a submarine pen hidden in the mountains to the left of the photo. There was talk of re-opening when I was there, but I don't know whether that ever happened. Of course, that very pleasant little port is now under Russian control, so whether it still looks like that is another matter entirely. There was talk of them moving part of their Black Sea fleet there, but it's difficult to manoeuvre around the entrance to the bay.

Irrawaddy Bridge, on the road to Mandalay?
Re: The Capetonian WOE Thread
Well done, award yourself a Kipling cake (if they still make them).
It is the Yadanarbon bridge in Mandalay.
We went on a several days (10?) cruise along the Irrawaddy a few years back, when "The Lady" was in charge.
The locals are some of the nicer people I have met.
Your turn.

Thanks tc. I was reading about a trip down the Irrawaddy a couple of months ago.
I'm sure this one will go fast as it will be familiar to many of us.

Still a charming building - Raffles Hotel, Singapore. Of late often overcrowded with Japanese tourists but still does a classy afternoon Tiffin.
The eponymous "Sling" is mixed in 5 gallon plastic buckets behing the bar - too sweet for my taste, but downed in quantity.

Tried the Sling once and hated it. I felt I had to try it again a few years later and still hated it!
Well done emjay - you have control of the mixer bucket!
