Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Impressions of the past two days:
A twenty-foot bank beside the road covered in green unfrosted nasturtium leaves;
banana palms, nikau palms, Phoenix palms, Norfolk pines, tree-ferns, agaves;
in flower: coral trees, Strelitzia, Kniphofia; Arum lilies growing wild in paddocks;
bird-calls of tui and mynah ;
people speaking with Auckland accents;
extinct dormant volcanoes dotted around the landscape - just little ones, 400' - 650';
One Tree Hill, Harbour Bridge, Rangitoto Island, yachts, multi-lane motorways, hustle hustle;
family.

^ I like the tuis, but we had a huge flock of common or Indian mynahs and I finished up making a trap. None around now, but more native birds. One Tree Hill was one of our favourite waks when we first met - used to walk there from Mrs Hydro's share house at Mt. Eden.

G'day,
fluctuating 33 to 35c despite haze, certainly not dome.
No wind so is stifling.
Runes were 31c for today, 32c mañana.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland- ... s-66215683Pilot whales are known for their strong social bonds, so often when one whale gets into difficulty and strands, the rest follow.
one of the dead whales appeared to have had a vaginal prolapse.
This led them to suspect that the whole pod stranded due to one female giving birth.

- I grew up close to One Tree Hill, always remember it silhouetted against the sunset sky.
Good morning: 4.2°C expecting 14°C. Sky mostly clear, Orion and Jupiter visible, and a satellite skating away to the south-east, cloudy to the south so nothing to be seen there.
New Moon in a little under 24 hours.
Northerlies bringing milder-than-usual temperatures lately but that may change nearer the end of the week.
A restful day ahead of pottering and muckin' abaht I think.
I was in seat 2C for yesterday's flight, good to disembark early.

Warmer tonight for my pre-midnight stroll. Managed to get 5000 steps in. Faithful Marlene the Cat waiting for me to come back, so got a feed. Now for bed. Me, that is. Marlene will be off on the hunt.

Think I am battling a Bug picked up on my travels.
Glad an easy day planned.
Mixed two packets of soup mix - "Rich Tomato", and "Creme of Chicken".
The Additives! oh, the Excitotoxins!
But very tasty with a chopped onion added.
Also having a cuppertea with a teaspoonful of sugar in't. Never have a sweet tooth usually. Big treat.

Evening all. Bit toasty at home this weekend, but spent time down at a dog show in Carmel, so only about 15C today because it was overcast there. Then came home to 38C heat.
The show went well, Faraday got Select all three days (what I expected) and picked up 8 points. Cassini got Best of Winners Sat/Sun and his first three points (2 and 1). One of our E-litter puppies was there Saturday and got Winners Bitch (2 points), with a C-litter puppy getting Reserve WB ( basically second place) all three days . The first day I showed Cassini in the early stages and handed him off to my son for the breed ring while I took Faraday in. Then I changed tactics because I figured she wasn't going to be beat the other champion bitch regardless of who was showing her, and got my son to show her while I stayed with Cassini, and that clearly paid off.

IF has been visiting lately. Don't mind too much. I like being up when the rest of the peeps are asleep. Weather here has been miserable. Excessive heat and humidity. Feels like a sauna when you step outside. Had to go to the DIY centre yesterday. Stood at the checkout and felt myself slowly melting. Daily thunderstorms in the afternoon with what they refer to as "gully washers" in these parts-sudden torrential rain.
TRABBforce to all who are suffering with creaky bits and other aliments. Hope Ibbie and Mrs 4ma are finally getting some relief. Seems that our list of "sickies" is expanding-one of the "joys" of getting older.

Morning folks.
Mdme LG, Mrs 4ma definitely appears to be on the mend. She manage to incinerate the loaf make her own toast and have a wander to the bottom of the garden and back. One has been issued with today's orders, so we are almost back to normal in some respects.
Meeting up with junior daughter later to collect one of them walkers that can be used as a seat - it's to help Mrs 4ma to get some exercise. May have to road test it.

G'day,
Still got a cloudless haze, climbing through 29c 71% the runes have it to be 31c.
*LG**Ibbie* seems to be longer term only expects to be serviceable by or around Christmas.
Just given the pot plants in the shade a water ration.
Just been informed that the dog guard in the RAV has collapsed, it is a universal type to get sufficient room in the three door RAV.
Some of the cable ties have broken.

The imam of our local mosque (town of Roses) was killed yesterday by a man suffering extreme psychological problems. Authorities admitted he should not have been released to the public.
Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
t'Internet suggests that (previous) Imam was connected to IS.

He was killed by his 23 year-old-son. After the killing he locked himself in the toilet: police broke down the door to arrest him.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Sharks were seen yesterday among bathers swimming off Port Bou, just up the coast from us.
The mayor of Port Bou said, not to worry, "it's perfectly safe to swim off the beach of our town."
Might be the basis for a good horror film...

Right now I would like a soft-boiled egg and some buttered-toast soldiers, maybe even Marmite soldiers.
No room-service, and no bread anyway (don't usually eat it)
