New phone

After three years of very intensive use my Xiaomi 8 screen has become unresponsive now and then. I'd be lost without it. So a Xiaomi 12 Pro is on the way. Some big changes. 256Gb memory, AMOLED screen, fast charging. Still come with a plastic protective case, charger, and got the infrared blaster, I use that a lot.

I don't know about amazon.uk but amazon.es shows the first 24 places in the list of most-sold phones occupied by Xiaomi consortium products.

Worked out fine. Turned it on, it looked around for other phones in the house with Phone Clone and copied them. Asked for a cable connection to the old phone. New phone doesn't have a slot for an SD/memory card, but copied all the files on the card in the previous phone to its internal memory. Had a lot of trouble turning Notifications on for my smart band, took two days of fiddling before I found the concealed (from me) setting.

€220 on big river. Many different varieties of the Xiaomi 12, all look similar.

So why can't my PC see, and vice-versum, the Xiaomi-12 when I plug it in, unlike the -8 and the -9 phones ? The only way to copy tracks of "Sweet Sounds of Heaven" and "Don't get Angry with Me" from Hackney Diamonds was load them on a Drive and plug that into the Xiaomi-12, which it Did see. Tech is going backwards.

Look for a USB setting in Settings to enable file transfer.

Yes and it's on, but says no apps to use it. Very odd. Several substitutes are installed that use Bluetooth or WiFi direct. As ever a work-around works !
