Re: Should I go back or not?
Ah.... so now you choose to add more revealing information.
Is that all of it up front?
Wow! It's all very sad.
The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.

Well yes... I didn't want my original post to ramble on with reams and reams of paragraphs.
Better to pass on relevant info as the thread progresses...
Gotta go. I report in an hour and haven't got ready yet.

You obviously trust your judgements professionally. Kudos. Why not personally?
Unacceptable bad behaviour is the same for me in both scenarios.
It seems to be a shady issue for you.
It is never a shady issue for me ever.

I told you so springs to my mind.

Pretty crap at this stuff m'self, but any element of distrust tends to snowball. Got to decide if trust will be given wholeheartedly or if you'll become a miserable bugger when away, wondering what she's up to.

wondering
As a triple-married man (in sequence not parallel) I learned years ago that if you are going to fret about the wife is up to while you are away you should never have got married in the first place.
Lick up the Honey, Stranger, and Ask no Questions. (Old Persian proverb)
and
Women and Cats do as they please
and Men and Dogs just have to get used to it. (Anon)

Words of wisdom, OFSO, words of wisdom.
The trick is how to make your-things-of-preference desirable enough for cats and women, so that 'as they please' were pleasing enough for you?

Exactly.
And as per comment below the one I quoted.
If you can't trust them, you shouldn't be with them.
That IMHO is a given.

Re: Should I go back or not?
Dear Agnes
My husband is a liar and a cheat. He has cheated on me from the beginning and when I confront him, he denies everything. What's worse, everyone knows he cheats on me. It is so humiliating!
Also, since he lost his job 14 years ago, he hasn't even looked for a new one.
All he does all day is smoke cigars, cruise around and shoot pool with his buddies and has sex with hookers while I work so hard to pay our bills.
Since our daughter went away to college and then got married; he doesn't even pretend to like me, and hints that I may be a lesbian.
What should I do?
Signed: Clueless
Agnes' reply:
Dear Clueless
Grow up and dump him. You don't need him anymore! Good grief woman, you're running for President of the United States!

slasher if you were the type of guy who never took a risk you wouldn't be in thailand in the first place
a divorce in 10 years time? so what.
you want her to be a permanent trusting partner. yeah ok. are you one yourself??
thailand is a volatile place and because of it it isn't boring.
I'd bonk her brains out. you might only live another year
what would you know about hookers probes? they are (usually) women too.

Re: Should I go back or not?
bye the way there is a subtle clash of cultures going on in slasher's situation.
slasher is a farang and brings a farang's wealth and moral sense to the relationship.
thai girls have a buddhist basis to their thinking and they see matters like sex from a totally different viewpoint from farangs.
they aren't sluts and harlots, it goes deeper than that. they have a totally different sense of values and priorities around things like death, life and sex.
so slash stop being a died in the wool farang and go for it mate. btw have some money stashed in an emergency account that you never let on exists.
...of course like all women as soon as you think you understand them they change the rules.

Re: Should I go back or not?
Well, that's a really bright view of life in general, D8 .
What do you mean by "a totally different sense of values and priorities around things like death, life and sex"?
What do you mean by "a totally different sense of values and priorities around things like death, life and sex"?
Re: Should I go back or not?
"a totally different sense of values and priorities around things like death, life and sex"?
"If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him"
I think D8 means that they have less taboos around these things, less angst and more acceptance of things just as they are. I guess you could sum this up as dispassionate pragmatism.
I think that this could best be summed up in this way "if you were making love to your Thai wife and you died suddenly, she would roll your naked body in the carpet on the floor after having taken the wallet from your jeans on the chair and then leave the house in search of another man without shedding a tear".
I am not a fan of Thai girls but each to their own let it be said.
I tend to remember that old western adage "for every guy pining for his beautiful ex wife or girlfriend, remember, her current partner is just as tired of her ***** as you are pining"...
Like my old flying instructor said, "never turn back when it fails because the result is likely to be disaster"...
Fly onwards to that distant constant northern star and pray that you find somebody just as constant...
Re: Should I go back or not?
Wow, More Aviation, you are a lot more of a romantic than I would have expected?!
Pragmatic romantic, at that?

Re: Should I go back or not?
More Aviation your last comments are indeed very apt. I am certainly glad that I moved on and away from a relationship that obviously wasn't and wouldn't ever work. Otherwise I wouldn't be Mrs Ex-Ascot. And we've been together for 23 years. Says it all.
